Sailing in Laganas Beach waters takes you to a beautiful bay on the south coast of Zakynthos (Zante) Island, the third largest of the Ionian Islands. Famous for its five-mile stretch of white sand peopled with sunbathers, swimmers, and frolicking singles out for a good time, Laganas Beach is a resort area boasting some of the liveliest nightlife in Greece. Tavernas, discos, cafés, nightclubs, and fine restaurants line the strip, which really rocks out during the summer season in a fashion vaguely reminiscent of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, during the college spring break period. Juxtaposed against the frenetic is the quiet side of Laganas Beach. Parts of it are closed during the night to protect the nesting loggerhead turtles that come to the beach to lay their eggs. These huge creatures can weigh 250 pounds and measure three feet across!
No moorings are available. There are anchorages north and south of Laganas Beach. If you want to visit Zante Town on the southeast coast, you can find ample room to anchor in the harbor.
Dinghy dockage: No dinghy dockage is available.
The primary attraction of Laganas Beach is the swimming and sunbathing. The nightclubs are another major draw.
No facilities for yachts are available.
