Unlike islands in the Caribbean that were formed from ancient volcanic mountain chains, the Bahamas perch on two banks that rise from the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. Both are sprawling and shallow, dotted with large and small islands and cays fringed in coral reefs teeming with sea life.

The Abacos area is a much larger crusing area then we expected. Shallow water is the norm and a Cat is the best way to go!

Morgan Barker, June 2009
Have chartered with the Moorings in Grenadines, Virgins, and Abacos.

Bruce Tomlinson, June 2009
Moorings does an excellent job of maintaining the boat and organizing all the details required to make the trip more about vacationing and having fun than about keeping a boat properly supplied and running.

Kurt Bosshardt, May 2009
Very rainy weather, but it didn't matter. Still had fun. Thank goodness for the air conditioning on the boat, or we would have remained wet the entire time.

John O'Donnell, March 2009
We have sailed BVI, Croatia, Belize, Australia, Tahti and PNW, mostly with Moorings. Abacos is easy to get too and feels safe and predictable. Sometimes that is good sometimes it is fun to be more adventurous and out on the edge. Moorings base is clean and nice; boat was fine. Too much food in basic provision.

John O'Donnell, March 2009
We traveled with two families (4 parents and 5 children). We enjoyed exploring new destinations every night and loved the beaches, swimming, snorkling, and beach side restaurants. Every destination was diffferent and brought new adventures.

David Ogryzlo, March 2009
We had a fantastic time in the Abacos last March. The weather was great, the Abaconians very friendly, and the Moorings service was first class. The trip was the first for our two young boys and for the inlaws. The Moorings staff did a great job of making them comfortable on their first sailboat adventure. This was the second trip for my…

We had only experienced your facility in Tortola so Marsh Harbour seemed almost desolate in comparison. Very friendly and efficient staff and the neighboring restaurants were convenient and quite nice. Rooms were spartan for sure but OK for the night we spent there ashore.

Geoff Walsh, October 2008
Continuous cold fronts blowing in out of the North. Glad we chartered a catamaran for the first time!

Some places we visited: Baker's Bay, Hopetown, Great Guana Cay, Green Turtle Cay, New Plymouth, Manjack Cay, Little Harbour, Pelican Cay. Spent soooo much time in the water, it was absolutely perfect.

Russell Drummond, May 2008
I have been on many bareboat charters with The Moorings since the mid-1990's. This was the sixth time as the Skipper. This trip was also the first catamaran, a 4300 named "Boss Lady". How appropriate because she has a mind of her own. She was perfect for the shallow waters of the Abacos. She was also…

Two families - It was an excellent vacation - we love the Abacos it was our second time there and we have been to the BVI's twice and prefer the Abaco's

Jill Schleis, March 2008
We are a group of sailors and the conditions were perfect for sailing everyday. We spent the first night in our slip at the Moorings (waiting for my lost luggage) Hanging out at the pool and cocktails and dinner on the boat. We took off for Great Guana Cay the next morning, had a lovely day of sailing and…

Chris Weaver, March 2008
The most sailing we've ever done on a bareboat vacation. My wife and I wanted a nice quiet getaway for our 30th anniversary, we certainly got it. The weather could have been warmer but the sailing could not have been better. Peaceful anchorages every night and beautiful blue sailing waters each day.

Ulrich Hopfenblatt, March 2008
The Mooring personel was professionell and helpful. Special thanks go to FRANCIS...always cool, calm and collected !

CATHE RADABAUGH, October 2007
This was my second trip with the Moorings and we had a wonderful time on each occasion. This trip was in the Bahamas, on a catamaran, with 7 folks plus the captain. Sleeping out on the trampoline was a highlight.
