How to get there
Aktion airport is located on the mainland near to the city of Preveza, 25 kilometres from the base; the trip takes approximately 30 minutes.

Taxi The trip takes approx 30 minutes and costs 30€.
If there are no taxis available, call the base and we will organise the transfer for you. You can also book a taxi on the following numbers.

Private taxi from Athens to Levkas: will wait for the clients at airport with a Moorings sign and client's name. The cost from the airport in Athens to the marina in Levkas will cost 330 EUR for 4 persons. The customers must pay the driver. If this is the mode of transfer your client choses, you - the vacation planning agent - must give the arrival details and names to Irene at your earliest convenience so that Irene can organize this.

Arrival / Departure Procedure
Embarkation: 3.00 pm is the contractual time when you can board your boat.
Briefing Times: Boat & Chart briefings are scheduled before at 1.30 pm. 
All head charterers are required to attend the briefings.
Disembarkation: Return to the base: 5.00 pm is the contracted time when the boat must be returned and ready for debriefing and checks. Disembarkation is at 8.00 am the following day.

Late Arrival Procedure
The base personnel will wait for you until 9.00 pm.  After 9.00 pm, you will find an information sign at our reception office with a message for you indicating your yacht's berth.  Your boat will be open and indicated by a sign with your name.  The boat's equipment will be ready for the night.  The base personnel will be available the next day at 9.00 am.

Post Office
The main Post Office is on 57 Stratigou Mela Str., the Pedestrian Street in Lefkada Town, 100m from the base. The postcode for Lefkada is 31100.
It is open Monday to Friday 7.30 am-3.00 pm.
The OTE telephone office is located at 1 Ioan. Valaoriti Str. You can purchase phone cards at the OTE office or from kiosks and supermarkets. You can find phone booths in the Marina as well as on the island.

Internet Connectivity
Connecting to the internet in most parts of Greece is not always possible. At the moment, Athens International Airport is offering Wi-Fi access but elsewhere, it's still hard to find.

Cellular Phones
The mobile network is well developed all over Greece.  You can use your own mobile after checking with your supplier to see if Greece is included in your contract. In case of loss or theft you can hire one locally.

Banks & Money Exchange

Banks
It is best to exchange your money when you arrive at the airport.
Banking hours: Monday - Thursday: 8.00 am-2pm and Friday 8.00 am-1.30 pm.
Most banks have a 24 hour cash machines.
During your cruise, you will be able to find banks in the town centres of Corfu, Gaios, Parga, Preveza, Nidri, Lefkas Town, Ithaca and Cephalonia.

Currencies & Money Exchange
Local Currency : euro (EUR)

All major Credit Cards recognized and accepted in most hotels, shops, travel and car rental agencies and restaurants. Stickers in the front windows will advise you as to which cards are acceptable.

Travellers Cheques issued by all the major companies are widely recognized. You can cash your traveller's cheques in all Greek and foreign banks, exchange bureaus and big hotels, but do not forget to have your passport with you. Identification is necessary for the transaction.

Activities & Sports

Snorkeling or Diving
To help you avoid traveling with an extra bag, The Moorings has snorkeling equipment (fins, masks and snorkels) for your use at all of its bases. The equipment is on board. If you wish to exchange fins, customer service would be delighted to, subject to availability.  Scuba diving is strictly regulated in Greece. Please arrange in advance to dive with a local club:

Cruising Information

Experience / Qualification Requirements
Two Sailing Licenses per boat are required.
Or one sailing license plus the Declaration of Honour (with photocopy of passport).

Marina Information
It is not possible to make reservation at Greek ports.  A passing through berth is generally available for the night.  Your passage is not always recorded when passing through small ports.  Port authorities will sometimes request the boat's papers and your charter contract.  Do not forget to retrieve your documents before leaving.  The average price for a night for a 40 footer: 7€, in small harbors / in private marina’s 40-50€.

Sailing Area Restrictions
Navigation is only permitted in Greek territorial waters. You are not permitted to approach the Albanian coast.

Electricity Information
All yachts are equipped with powerleads, a battery charger and 220V plugs, but unfortunately the marina piers do not often have electrical outlets.

The Demon’s cave near Spartochori.
Papanikoli’s sea cave: a shelter of Papanikolis, the famous Greek submarine.
Ancient Lefkada: 2km southeast of Lefkas Town are the ruins of the ancient city Niricos. Parts of the theatre and the fortification walls are preserved. By the wall’s perimeter it is believed that ancient Lefkada was one of the biggest cities in Greece.
The Folklore Museum: displays collections of local costumes and rustic implements.
The Museum of Phonographs in Lefkas Town: contains souvenirs of romantic Lefkada.
The Venetian castle: near Canali, built by John Orsini (1300). Its present form is a result of repairs and changes made by the Turks and the Venetians. In the Castle, one can admire the church of Agia Mavra (Santa Maura). Today the castle is open to tourists and hosts many cultural events during the summer.
The cave of Saint John: at the west side of the city.
The public library: with collections of pictures taken following the Byzantine years and pictures of the Eftanesian School of the 17th, 18th and 19th century.There is a collection of old books and manuscripts.
The church of Saint John: where Apostle Paul had a liturgy.

Travel Insurance

Vaccination and Immunization Information
Greece is generally risk-free of contagious disease.
At time of publication, an International Vaccination Certificate is not mandatory.
