
The protected waters of Puget Sound have long been a sailor’s paradise. More than 170 islands comprise Washington State’s San Juan County alone, and literally hundreds more are just over the border in Canada.
General Conditions
Northwest of Seattle, Washington are several groups of islands that are nestled in between mountain ranges to the North, South and to the East. The protected waters that surround these islands are a closely guarded secret of those who have discovered this Northwest oasis. This Northwest “Banana Belt” includes areas with annual precipitation of 15” or less. This region enjoys a very comfortable temperature range year round. Combine these characteristics with the native wildlife and majestic scenery, and you have a recipe for some of the world’s finest cruising.

Tides
The tidal range in the area is up to 10 to 12 feet.
A copy of the tidal charts and currents is provided on each yacht.
Due to the fluctuation of these waters it is extremely important that close attention be made in regards to the currents.
In some locations the currents are 4 to 5 knots.

The base provides clients with daily weather forecasts.
The Cruiser Net: VHF channel 68, daily at 0815 hrs.
Radio Abaco: FM radio 93.5, daily at 0800 and 1800 hrs.
