CPAP Machine Use Onboard
We understand that some customers may need to bring a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine on their charter. To help ensure your comfort and safety, please read the following important information before you travel.
Power Supply Onboard
Boats may not always provide a constant power source. If you plan to use a CPAP machine, please ensure you:
- Bring a CPAP compatible marine battery pack with enough charge for multiple nights.
- Carry extra batteries and, for extended cruising, consider a solar or manual charging option.
- Use appropriate surge protectors and any voltage converters recommended for your device.
- Consider a travel CPAP machine designed to run without humidification during low power situations.
Protecting Your CPAP From Water
The marine environment is naturally humid, and cabins can be prone to occasional splashes. Please:
- Store your CPAP machine in a dry, secure location.
- Use a waterproof case when the machine is not in use.
Cabin Space & Ventilation
Cabins can be compact, and airflow is important for safe operation:
- Set your CPAP machine up on a stable, flat surface with good ventilation.
- Keep it clear of vents, enclosed spaces, or areas with poor airflow.
- Clean and dry CPAP components daily to prevent salt or humidity build up.
- Secure tubing and cables safely to prevent tripping hazards.
Fire Safety
As with any electrical equipment:
- Inspect power cords and batteries for any signs of wear before boarding.
- Avoid placing your machine near heat sources.
- Keep flammable materials away from the device.
- You may wish to bring a portable smoke alarm for added reassurance.
Movement of the Vessel
Boats are constantly in motion. To avoid spills or equipment shifting:
- Secure your machine and accessories so they remain stable even in choppy conditions.
- Consider a non-spill humidifier if your machine uses water.
Your Responsibilities
To help us support you, please:
- Notify us in advance if you intend to bring a CPAP machine.
- Bring suitable waterproof storage, backup power, and any required converters.
- Familiarise yourself with the boat’s power options, layout, and emergency procedures.
- Check with your device manufacturer that your CPAP is safe for use in a marine environment.
Bringing and using a CPAP machine onboard is done at your own risk, and customers are responsible for ensuring their device is suitable, properly maintained, and operated safely.
Please note
When bringing a CPAP machine onboard, terms and conditions must be signed to confirm you have read & understood your responsibility in using the CPAP machine onboard.
