A skipper is a fully qualified and professional captain. They will have hundreds of hours’ experience in sailing many different types and sizes of yachts. They are often local to your chosen destination and come with a wealth of knowledge to make your vacation truly special.

A charter with the option of a Moorings Skipper is an excellent choice if you have never chartered before, want to book a yacht that’s larger than you’re comfortable handling, or simply want more time for rest and relaxation. With years of cruising experience and a wealth of local knowledge, our Skippers are the ideal guides to your cruising area.

• Bareboat Skippered Charters – offers more flexibility and are available in ALL our stunning destinations on any yacht in our fleet. This is also available in the destinations where we offer our skippered charter packages. 
• Skippered Charter Package -s currently ONLY available in the British Virgin Islands and includes the skipper, provisioning allowance for the skipper, and Wi-Fi.

Bareboat Charter with Cook – Everyone loves to eat well when sailing, but not everyone enjoys working in the galley. Your Moorings charter cook helps you out by taking on all of your cooking chores from stowing provisions, to cooking and serving meals, to washing up afterwards. When you add a cook to your Moorings bareboat charter, you get more than just delicious meals prepared from the best local ingredients. You get time — time to spend with your family and friends sailing, snorkeling, or simply relaxing.

*Please note, when adding a cook to a bareboat charter, the cook will prepare all the food and clean dishes on board, however, the customer is still responsible for provisioning the boat, unlike the crewed charter where the boat will be provisioned for you.

Host/ess’ will be responsible for the daily housekeeping, ensuring the communal areas and guest cabins are kept clean and tidy. You can expect them to professionally serve you during mealtimes, and to serve drinks (including mouth-watering cocktails) and snacks to keep you going as you explore. They will be the host for any parties, activities, or excursions and will have an abundance of knowledge of the surrounding area so be sure to ask lots of questions! They may also help the crew out with water sports and deck work and will be making sure you’re having an incredible time during your charter with The Moorings. 

*For crewed charters with more than 8 guests, an additional steward/ess (also known as a host/ess) may be provided (in addition to the Captain and Chef), however, this is subject to availability.  

*This is also an option for some bareboat locations, again, this is subject to availability. 

All provisioning orders should be placed no later than 7 days prior to the charter start date, and 14 days prior if departing to The British Virgin Islands.

Make the most of your time on vacation by letting The Moorings take the hassle out of provisioning your yacht. With our personalized provisioning service, you can opt to select from select food and beverage packages or purchase your items a-la-carte. We’ll do the grocery and deliver your provisioning to your yacht for you, saving you precious time and money when you arrive for your vacation.

Take your adventure at sea to the next level with a variety of watersports options.

Kayaks, & Paddleboards are the perfect way to explore all that your vacation destination has to offer. We strongly recommend ordering your watersports equipment ahead of time to ensure availability when you arrive. We are unable to provide masks and snorkels to our customers, fins are available if you wish to use them.

The Sleep Aboard option is a great way to customize your charter based around your travel schedule, while saving money. If you will arrive at your destination late in the afternoon, book a Sleep Aboard to stay on board your yacht at the marina that evening rather than paying for a full day of charter. This option allows you to settle into your new home on the water that evening, so you can get an early start the next day.

*Sleep Aboard: is a pre-paid optional extra. This is subject to availability, and must be booked well in advance of travel.

Pre-pay your fuel ahead of time and eliminate the worry about refueling your yacht upon return. The price of your fuel package is dependent on the location and number of days booked. Please note you will not get a refund on any unused fuel.

The Moorings sailing yachts: A full tank of fuel is included in the price for all The Moorings sailing yachts. Pick up the yacht with a full tank, plus there is no need to refuel at the end (*except in Mediterranean destinations, where fuel is not included and may be prepaid).

The Moorings power yachts: can pre-pay fuel in the BVI only, other bases you will need to refill prior to returning the boat as described above.

Purchase extra security with our Yacht Damage Waiver.

This extra option covers accidental damage or loss and reduces the amount you’ll need to pay for your security deposit. Security deposits will be collected in either cash or against a credit card. In case of loss or damage to the yacht and its equipment, such as the outboard engine or dinghy, you will be offered a replacement while on charter. Choose from two coverage options. See more:

Your health and safety matter most. For that reason, we suggest you purchase personal travel insurance when making your travel plans. We offer an extensive travel insurance policy so you have complete peace of mind.

You can arrange your travel insurance when you pay your deposit or any time before the final payment is made.

You can expect comfortable rooms with the necessary facilities such as free Wi-Fi, fully air-conditioned with USA cable TV, an in-room refrigerator, a coffee machine, and complimentary water to ensure you have the most relaxing experience on your Caribbean getaway. *Only applicable in the BVI.

Wi-Fi is also available for rent on our Club model yachts in participating destinations.
