A Week in Turkey, done properly

A Week in Turkey, done properly

Turkey is one of those destinations that naturally suits a week on the water.

From Fethiye, everything feels well-spaced. Short sails between stops, calm conditions and a coastline that gives you variety without needing to rush.

It is an easy place to settle into from the start, which is part of what makes it work so well with The Moorings.

Couples can enjoy quieter anchorages and evenings on board, larger groups have the space to share the experience comfortably and celebrations can unfold at a pace that feels right across the week.

One destination, shaped around your trip

Turkey does not force a particular way of travelling. It gives you the space to enjoy the week as it comes together.

For couples, that often means slower days. Time on deck, swimming straight from the yacht, and evenings that move easily between dining on board and heading ashore when it suits.

For groups, the experience feels balanced. The yachts are designed to be lived on, with enough space to spend time together while still having room to step away when needed. The sailing itself is steady and manageable, which helps keep the week relaxed for everyone on board.

For celebrations, Turkey offers a natural rhythm. A lively evening in Göcek, followed by a quiet anchorage the next day. It never feels over planned, but it always feels considered.

It is also a strong choice for first-time charter guests. The routes are straightforward, the conditions consistent and there is enough structure to guide the week without making it feel fixed.

What a week on the water looks like

The 7-day Fethiye sailing itinerary is designed to help you get the most out of this part of the coast, while still leaving room to enjoy it your own way.

You begin in Fethiye, where provisioning and preparation are simple, before heading out towards Karacaören Bay and Sarsala Bay. The first few days ease you into the experience. Short sails, clear water and time to settle into life on board.

As the week continues, you move through the Göcek area. Stops around the Yassica Islands break up the sailing, with the option to spend time ashore or stay on board and enjoy the setting.

Later in the week, the pace slows again. Cleopatra’s Bath, Wall Bay and Kapi Creek offer quieter anchorages, where the focus shifts to swimming, good food and time well spent on the water.

A few standout moments along the way

Fethiye sets the tone well. A lively harbour town with everything you need before you set sail, from provisioning to a relaxed meal by the marina. It is an easy place to begin and end the week.

Not far from the main sailing area, Ölüdeniz and the Blue Lagoon are worth including if you can. Calm water and an easy setting for swimming make it one of the more relaxed stops along the coast.

Gemiler Island offers something different. A short stop that brings together coastal views, historic ruins and a natural place to pause towards the end of the day.

For a change of pace, Saklıkent Gorge adds something beyond the water. Cooler air, a short walk through the canyon and a contrast that fits easily before or after your time on board.
