We took the 6 day crewed charter with Andy and Linzi with 3 couples all celebrating our 60th birthdays. It was simply amazing. The itinerary was perfectly planned out but with a lot of flexibility depending on our wishes. Andy knew when we should arrive at certain places to avoid large crowds. Andy’s main focus was our safety but it was blended with exceptional and friendly service. The real star of the show other than the amazing scenery was Linzi’s delicious food – 3 meals per day plus 5pm “Nibbles” (hint – bring loose clothing). Overall, this trip exceeded expectations and something we would definitely do again.

It was an absolute epic trip for the eight of us!!!
Thank you Captain Ron and staff of Moorings. The Abacos is truly beautiful. -
We had a blast! 3 couples on a 50′ Sail Cat for 5 days in the lovely BVIs. Moorings did an outstanding job. Check-in and registration was quick and easy. Our boat was clean, in good working order and well equipped. We had a water heater start leaking on the trip and the Mooring chase crew was right there to fix it. We did our charter with a skipper and Captain Laura was amazing. Our previsions were spot on. We will do this again.

I chartered a boat with crew for my 50th birthday celebration and it exceeded expectations. We had a BLAST. The captain had a great balance of being present and involved but also giving us our space. The food was spectacular. Fresh, delicious, different every meal. And the chef really paid attention to our preferences and all our allergies and restrictions, which was not easy I’m sure. Every meal was a celebration with gorgeous table decor and fantastic service. We honestly rarely left the boat b/c we were having so much fun. Everyone on the trip was already talking about doing this again b/c it was the best vacation we had ever taken together. HIGHLY recommend!

We had a wonderful trip with friends in the BVI. Captain Richard was knowledgeable, helpful and meticulous. We had unusually high winds that week but he was able to adjust his sailing and moorings accordingly. He also prepared wonderful signature drinks to go along with our appetizers. Chef Shelly ( aka Birdie) worked tirelessly in the kitchen to prepare amazing meals and presented them beautifully. She also never missed a mooring ball and knew her way around the boat too.
I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this charter and crew for your BVI adventures. -
It was a great experience. Our first time in Bahamas and first time having a captain. The area was great and the boat and facilities were top notch. Our Captain Gio was amazing. Was able to accomplish everything we wanted: sailing, snorkeling, wildlife and local culture. Highly recommend.

We were 4 couples (friends) on a 7 night trip in the BVI on a crewed 5000. Our first experience of such and it surpassed our expectations. The Moorings have this down to a science. Organization was great. In particular, the crew was outstanding. Anis, the captain is a highly experienced and capable sailor & we felt very safe in his hands! Tery, the cook prepared gormet meals and handled all set up & clean up..The meals may have been the best part of the trip! I highly recommend the Moorings & that crew (Anis & Tery)

Four couples went on a bareboat Moorings power catamaran around the Abacos Islands and we had a wonderful time. The scenery is beautiful. The locals are extremely nice and patient! The base with Travis and Chelsea were awesomme and helpful! My wife left a dress onboard and Travis mailed it back to us. What great service!! Thanks!

We had the most incredible adventure on Seas The Day with Captain Andy and Chef Linzi! Andy’s knowledge of sailing and the BVI was very impressive and much appreciated and Linzi’s meals stand up against any gourmet restaurant you might enjoy. Our days were carefully planned and executed by our crew, and we never lifted a finger. Some days were filled with adventure, and some included our favorite book and an afternoon nap. As this was our first charter experience in BVI, we did not know what to expect. I can say that our expectations were definitely exceeded, and our crew was a big reason for that! Highly recommended trip and crew!

My first Catamaran Charter and I was blown away! Chef Linzi knocked it out of the park with her fabulous meals. Every meal had a beautiful presentation, and it was so good. We looked forward to our nibbles at 5pm, along with Captain Andy’s drink of the day. The seas were a bit “sporty” but I felt completely safe knowing Captain Andy was at the helm. Loved our morning briefings and chart lessons. The boat was so clean and very well stocked. Would highly recommend this dynamic duo. They really made the trip for us. We had lots of laughs and they played along with us. Can’t wait for the next trip, wouldn’t sail BVI without them!

We had the best Captain who was on top of scheduling everything for us. He kept the fun going all week and he made sure that we did not miss any hot spots. The British Virgin Islands are beautiful! We enjoyed great snorkeling, beaches, and picturesque open-air restaurants. We had 4 couples and rented The Moorings 50’ catamaran. The boat had four areas to hang out and enjoy the views. The beds were comfortable and there was more than ample storage in every room, including under the deck storage for luggage, carry-on bags, etc. We cooked some meals on board. The kitchen has everything you need and the large grill was perfect for the 8 of us. I highly recommend booking with The Moorings.

8 April 2025,
We recently returned from our charter with the Moorings in Belize.
It was our 4th time Bareboating and the 1st time in Belize. It was also our first time with a Catamaran. The boat was a Robertson and Caine 4300-3 and there were 5 of us. It was very clean and well maintained. The bilges and engines were spotless. Everything worked as it should right down to the watermaker. It was a fun to sail and a real treat to be aboard.
The Moorings Base in Placencia was very professional, We interacted with Mateo, Diago and Kevin. We received a good chart briefing and boat orientation at check in and check out at the end was complete and efficient.
We were out for 10 days and anchored at a different caye each night. Anchorages were never crowded. Belize is a wonderful place to sail, snorkel, learn about the history, and be with very friendly people every where we went.
We would highly recommend both Moorings in Placencia, and Belize for anyone looking for a unique sailing vacation.

This was our first time renting a catamaran and first time visiting the BVI’s.
After months of planning, we had a fantastic time…here’s why:
-The Moorings Marina facilities are clean, safe, and the staff were friendly,
-The boat we rented was ready when we got there, clean, and in good mechanical order,
-Our captain is what made the whole trip special…Capt. Kevin (Jamba)Jamba was one step ahead of us the whole trip. He sat with us the first day, went over all the safety stuff, discussed possible itineraries, and with his suggestions, we explored the BVI’s knowing we were in good hands.
Jamba is an excellent sailor and always kept us comfortable and safe. His knowledge of the islands brought us to places we hadn’t heard about before.
Over the course of the week, Jamba took care of all our reservations, mooring balls, and ensured we had a great time. It was also great getting to know him.
We’ll be back someday and hope to have Jamba as our captain again.

Great adventure with good friends made possible by a first-class Moorings operation. For starters our captain (Kevin aka Jamba) was amazing. He made sure we had a great time, were safe and was one step ahead of us the entire trip making every day’s activities go without a hitch. The 50′ boat (with A/C) was very comfortable and met all of our needs. We did have an issue with the freshwater generation system, but the captain helped us manage this well. We highly recommend getting a captain even if you are an experience boater. He took all the stress out of day-to-day planning and execution. Recommend not over ordering certain provisions as refrigeration/special-offers/freezer space (although decent volume) is ultimately limited. Overall, I would recommend this adventure to others as it was highly enjoyable and reasonably priced.

Of course the area and views were amazing. The boat was clean and ran perfect. We were not familiar with the area so we had a captain provided(Foody). He really was the best at getting us to the areas we should visit and the winds were beyond normal so he was great at navigating that safely and no damage to the boat for us.

Charter Captain Gio was superb. Very knowledgeable, competent and “safety first” approach. Carefully planned daily itinerary to meet our objectives (sailing, snorkeling) and always had a surprise adventure to keep our teenage grandchildren involved and entertained. Passionate approach to sharing his love for sailing with all of us.

The entire Moorings experience, from the checkin to the boat to the fantastic crew, made our trip to the British Virgin Islands one to always remember. We were fortunate to get a 50′ catamaran that was only 3 months old but our crew of captain and chef will make sure that boat stays in good condition. I really can’t say enough positives about how amazing they were and how well they took care of us! The food was amazing and every day they ended the day with ensuring we had plans that suited us for the next day. We were able to get some good sailing days due to good winds. We made good time and thanks to good captaining and good advice, we all stayed well even with 6′ swells.
If you are considering a trip like this, I have 2 pieces of advice. Use the Moorings and hope that you get a crew amazing as ours.

I would highly recommend The Moorings BVI/Tortola for your next vacation. An incredible week spent with family and friends!

Services were great. We decided to have a captain. It made the trip stress free and Raj, our captain, became one of the family.

I love sailing but don’t want to own a boat that will sit 90 % of the time. The answer is Moorings. This is the 5th time using the Moorings for my sailing adventures. I grew up working the family yacht, so know by experience the hassles of ownership. With the moorings, we have access to wonderful yachts throughout the world for a fraction of the cost of ownership. You just can’t get that any other way. Plus, the service is unattainable any other way. We had a problem with the outboard motor of the Dinghy and within 2 hours they replaced the whole dinghy. In general, the Bahamas take careful planning on your sailing due to the coral reefs, but the benefit is seeing the reefs. Dropping anchor in remote areas is the best experience for me as I love long distance swimming, which is not desirable if you tie up to a mooring ball in the harbor. The Bahamas offer both depending on your wants.
