Our 3-Cat Armada returned last week and other than the weather being uncooperative, it was a fantastic trip. From Booking to handling issues, everything was managed beautifully.
The Loop Hole in our fleet had fantastic Captain Inga – who was a huge help to all of us (even though she didn’t have to!) – She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in all of the ports giving the other boats (I was on the Lilylolanni) local insights and hints! She was really delightful in all regards!
Highly recommend this trip to those who are looking for a grand tropical adventure!

We absolutely loved our sailing holiday in the British Virgin Islands with Moorings. It was a bucket list holiday and everything I could have hoped for.
The 45′ catamaran, Why Knot, was excellent with a freezer, three fridges, water maker, air conditioning, masses of indoor and outdoor seating and many other features. The Yacht Club was brilliant for when we came off the boat and waited for our flight home.
My only complaint is that the maintenance was very poor:
The boat was clean and well prepared but the rear starboard head was blocked and utterly revolting. An engineer came out to fix it and left saying it was fixed, but it continued to fill up with poo constantly and smelled revolting. This could have easily spoiled the holiday but fortunately we were only using three cabins so we could treat this as a spare. But goodness it was stinky.
The masthead light and several navigation lights were broken as was the (non-essential) underwater hull light.
I wouldn’t bother with pre-provisioning again as the Moorings mini mart was for last minute things and the two supermarkets are a couple of minutes away, well stocked, with shuttles to get you there and back.
Having said all that, if I can afford it I would definitely go back to the Moorings and the BVI again as I loved the holiday. -
We have experienced 10 days of absolute paradise sailing around the British Virgin Islands aboard the Maggie Sea II with Captain Romano and chef extraordinaire Sylvia. To say the voyage was idyllic and perfect is almost an understatement. Romano organized all of our fun activities including sailing time onboard. The boat was in pristine condition and it was an absolute pleasure to call it our home. Sylvia’s planning, provisioning and outstanding meal preparation was fully appreciated as it accommodated all of our food preferences.
One of our most memorable family holidays ever! -
The Moorings staff was polite, attentive, and accommodating. The BVI base has excellent facilities. our group sailed for five days and wished we had booked a longer sail.

Went out for a week with our friends on a 4200 catamaran. Had such a great time. Highly recommended to do. A great way to see the BVI. We hired a captain as well, and couldn’t have gone better. Stacey was great! Took the time to show us cool spots to moor up for a bit of snorkeling and scuba diving. She had good input as to which islands to see, and we got on some cool tours because of her knowledge. I am sure moorings has all very good captains, but if you get a chance to book one I would highly recommend Stacey. The whole moorings process was seamless, very good people to deal with.

This is an awesome sailing base with great staff. Dee did a very good chart briefing the day before our charter. Then we got on our 46′ leopard catamaran and had a great week cruising Abacos. There was very good support throughout the trip. Our boat was in excellent condition. Upon return we were able to use the sailing base amenities including the clean showers and restroom facilities as well as the beautiful pool-bar area. I 100% recommend this location for a charter.

Had a Great experience with Moorings from the time of booking with agent Becky, to support and emails from Moorings. All questions answered, Moorings base is impressive in BVI ,boat briefing, and friendly staff.

Excellent experience from beginning to end! Booking agent, Sam was very attentive to our needs including: appropriate boat size, trip length, trip insurance, transfers, water toys, etc.
The boat (464PC) handled like a dream. Watermaker worked well, if not a bit slowly. Bow-thrusters did not work but don’t really need them. Weather briefing was very helpful as well – Miles was very thorough and took time to answer our questions.
My only small complaint was the boat briefing. First time on the 464, would have been nice to have a bit more thorough rundown of boat offerings and limitations. However, all the deckhands were extremely helpful and nice to deal with. I think this is more of a Moorings management issue with schedules during high, ‘launch’ activity.
All in all, an excellent trip and well managed by Moorings.

We had the most incredible 9-day sailing adventure with The Moorings, hosted by Captain Romano and Sylvia. We truly couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more.
Captain Romano helped us plan the perfect itinerary based on our interests, making every stop feel thoughtful and personalized. Sylvia was an outstanding chef and went above and beyond to accommodate the dietary restrictions within our group, every meal was delicious and stress-free.
The trip was filled with unforgettable moments, including spotting whales on our sail from Anegada back to the main island, stunning sunsets every evening, and nonstop beautiful scenery. The boat was also in tip-top shape the entire trip, which made everything even more relaxing.
Overall, it was an absolutely memorable experience, and we would highly recommend Romano, Sylvia, and The Moorings to anyone looking for a dream sailing vacation.
With many thanks, Taylor & Caitlyn

The weather was unusually poor for this time of year as it was everywhere else. However, the crew on Andromeda made sure we had everything we needed and a good time at that! Vicki was an exceptional cook with skills we couldn’t imagine having in such a small kitchen and Dani made sure we had more than enough of everything. We will be coming back so we can experience better weather and would suggest this trip to anyone. From arranging our off the boat meals, suggestions on excursions and making sure we had a taxi waiting for us this trip was effortless!! Just do it!

We rented a 52-foot monohull from The Moorings in Tortola, BVI and had a great time. the boat was excellent, and the service was exceptional. No complaints–the Moorings is a very professional outfit. We have rented a sailboat from them for about 20 consecutive years, and I highly recommend them.

Captain Eggie and Chef Emerson were top notch. Had an amazing trip, cannot wait to book again. Wish we could have the two of them in other locations. Boat was better than expected. Great for three couples.

Rico was an amazing skipper! We always felt like we were in good hands. He was very attentive but stayed out of the way and let us enjoy our trip. He was helpful with making reservations and gave us good recommendations. If you go, hope you get Rico!

We just returned from an incredible catamaran charter with the Moorings and it exceeded every expectation. The Catamaran was spotless, spacious and beautifully maintained. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely invested in making sure we had a fantastic trip. I highly recommend the Moorings.

We hired our first bareboat in BVI after passing our skipper qualifications last year. The whole experience was excellent and left us looking forward to coming back and doing it again. Mooring are very professional, the marina and people were wonderful…but not everything was perfect. Eg They did not make it clear that you lose 2hrs of your hire time on day 1 for a safety briefing and boat familiarisation. The safety briefing in particular we could have done earlier in the day but it was never offered and was just a repeat of the two 2 hour safety briefinsg we did on line before arriving. So something to improve.
All in all a great place, company and people.. we loved it -
Just returned from BVI on a 5-day charter with The Moorings on a 45′ Sailing Catamaran. We stayed at The Moorings the night before our charter and enjoyed the pool, food, and bar during our stay. There is also a food market there to get any additional provisions you may have forgotten. We chose to have a Skipper on our charter and what a great decision that was. Captain RICO was EXCELLENT and HIGHLY recommended him. With some challenging weather during our time, he made sure we were on a safe mooring ball in a protective cove while also making sure we were taking advantage of what each island had to offer, snorkeling, dinner reservations, beach, swimming, Willy T’s, and trolling for fish. Caught tuna and barracuda. The water was clear and beautiful. This time of year temperatures were perfect, ranged between 75-85 every day. The food was fabulous every night. thanks again to Rico for securing our reservations at every stop. BEYC, SABA, Foxy’s (best ribs I’ve ever had) were great! We chose to get provisions for breakfast/lunch and eat out every night to experience the local cuisine. We chose to fly into St. Thomas and take a water taxi over to Tortola so we could spend a few days there at the end of our trip. Water taxi was very efficient BUT very expense. It short cuts the ferry/customs lines and gets you through customs quickly, literally 10 mins, don’t even have to leave the boat (30+’ powerboat). We also arranged for private taxi to take us from airport to Red Hook. Captain Shorty was our water taxi captain. Rough ride with waves and at night but got us to port for customs before closing and was a pleasure to be with. Another great Captain! Overall feel it’s worth the extra cash. Just be sure you fully understand all the associated costs. Slight disagreement with the company on “fee” for flight delay, so not promoting them until this is settled. As you’ve probably read, pack light. We used the vacuum bags while packing. I was skeptical but was a great decision. Able to package cloths for last days separate and not open. Overall, a GREAT trip and would definitely return. Again, our Skipper RICO was AWESOME!

I have been sailing with the Moorings for over 25 years. It’s always a very pleasurable experience. Sometimes it’s a little difficult getting off the dock on the first day, but that’s to be expected. And I always plan to expect at least one maintenance problem with the boat during our week in the British Virgin Islands, but the maintenance crew is excellent and it’s usually repaired within two or three hours.

Everything was top notch. Check-in was efficient but most of all Captain Libert was fantastic. We could not ask for better service and a more competent Captain. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and most importantly extremely friendly. We were a group of five couples on a 50 foot sailing catamaran. Captain Libert provided various options each day for our itinerary based on weather, mooring and diving locations etc. We had tons of fun and plenty of laughs throughout the week. The weather was perfect and the locations found by Captain Libert were spectacular.

We were aboard a 45′ bareboat sailing catamaran which the Moorings substituted for the 52′ monohull we had reserved. The eight-day trip was great, although the vessel had electrical flaws including low-voltage alarms at 3 am three times. Response from service was good, requiring replacement of three batteries. We have been repeat customers for thirty years, so we know the process. Nadji at the base was great — I would hire her. Moorings does a good job; we will be charter with them again. The business is one of countless details to provide the service. HBS could do an interesting study of the systems necessary and personnel management challenges. I am happy to see that the staff is 95% BVI citizens.

An elevated Moorings experience—Integrity driven Captain Gilson handled every detail with calm expertise and care.
