Meet the Moorings 5200: Spacious, Comfortable Sailing Without the Fuss

There’s nothing quite like stepping aboard a catamaran designed for real life at sea, where you have room to stretch out, places to gather, and those quiet corners you didn’t even know you needed. That’s exactly what the Moorings 5200 (5-cabin bareboat) delivers. Built for comfort and ease, it’s a yacht shaped by decades of charter experience and created to make time on the water feel effortless.

Built for Real Charter Life

The Moorings 5200 was designed by Robertson & Caine with Simonis Voogd and refined with input from years of charter knowledge. It’s available as a 5-cabin bareboat or a 6-cabin crewed yacht. Both layouts were created with one goal: to make life on board easy, enjoyable, and memorable. Whether you’re sailing with family, a group of friends, or handing the helm over to a professional crew.

Room to Gather, Room to Breathe

At the center of the 5200 is a seamless 438 sq ft indoor-outdoor living space. Wide sliding doors open the saloon to the aft cockpit, creating one large, flexible area for meals, conversation, and relaxing together.

Forward, a private cockpit with sunbeds offers a quiet retreat, while the coach roof lounge gives everyone a place to enjoy the view under way. In the aft cockpit, a large dining table, wide settee, and built-in chaise longue make it easy to share meals or watch the sunset.

Cabins Designed for Comfort

The 5-cabin layout features four double cabins plus an aft-access bunk cabin, ideal for teenagers or extra crew. Each cabin is bright, practical, and designed for real charter life, with en-suite heads, storage space, and generous windows for natural light.

Easy to Sail, Great to Experience

The Moorings 5200 sails as comfortably as it entertains. A taller rig with overlapping genoa and fully battened mainsail delivers strong performance in all conditions. Compared to the Moorings 5000, the 5200 achieves a 17% increase in up-wind performance, while all lines are led back to the protected helm for easy handling.

Where You Can Take It?

Whether you’re exploring the British Virgin Islands, Belize, St Lucia, or St Martin, the 5-cabin 5200 adapts to your plans. You set the pace, slow mornings, short passages, or full days under sail. Anchorages, coastal towns, and local experiences are all within reach.

Bareboat or Crewed, Your Choice

The 5-cabin bareboat is ideal for sailors who enjoy the independence of managing their own yacht. For those who prefer to sit back and relax, the 6-cabin crewed version offers the same space and design, but with a professional captain and chef taking care of the details.

Ready to Step Aboard?

The Moorings 5200 (5-cabin bareboat) is built for sailors who want comfort without compromise. It’s a yacht made for sharing time together, sailing with ease, and enjoying the journey just as much as the destination.

What Our Customers Are Saying

In June 2025, 6/18-6/23, we had the pleasure to sail out of BVI Moorings with Capt Romano and Silvia. This was our 4th sailing with the Moorings and sailing in BVI, our second c=fully chartered – the only way to go 

Capt Romano is a very capable sailor and captain – it’s obvious he enjoys sailing and what he does. He runs a tight ship, and I like it that way. It’s so easy to get injured in so many ways aboard a vessel, specially a multi deck sailing yacht. Capt R always keeps an eye out for hidden danger or careless passengers/guests. An injury can instantly turn a dream vacation into a nightmare – for all.

On this sailing, we were extremely fortunate in that the weather and winds fully cooperated – blue skies and gentle breezes accompanied the entire trip….and Capt R put those sails to work, which made for an added experience – truly priceless! As previously mentioned, we’ve sailed the BVI islands on several occasions; HOWEVER, Capt R managed to show us areas of BVI we had not visited or even knew existed. Every morning we’d find ourselves waiting to a serene bay, surrounded by amazing vistas – the best part, we had it
ALL to ourselves with no other boat in sight.

Capt Romano’s skills and knowledge of the islands in BVI make for a wonderful trip! He takes pride in showing his guests the best of BVI and the many secluded beaches/bays that it has to offer – and his “pain killers” are the best!

Our chef was Silvia. She and the Capt. made a great team, which contributed to a great experience. Silvia is a good cook and takes pride in her dishes. I’m a meat and potatoes guy. However, due to some miscommunication we ended up with a different menu. In the end, it worked out great! Her meals were very tasty with more of a Mediterranean flare – which my crew enjoyed, especially my wife! Side note, we almost did not make it to this trip-my wife was battling pancreatic cancer. However, she finished her treatment just in time and her doctors gave her the green light to travel. Silvia’s healthy Mediterranean did wonders for my wife – she’s very limited as to what she can eat and what doesn’t upset her stomach.

Cons
The Moorings needs to “refresh” the rooms in their hotel. True, they have had poor luck with the hurricanes. However, if others were able to rebuild/refresh so can they. While we’re at – make sure to visit Bitter End Yacht Club-they’ve done an awesome job rebuilding.

My room was top drawer and the hotel property had great amenities including pool bar, restaurant and spa. I had read some troubling reviews before arriving but my experience was the opposite: helpful staff, good food, beautiful property and my room was to die for.

Spent a wonderful week with friends on a sailing adventure in BVI. Our captain and chef Andel and Josane were nothing short of wonderful. They made our experience just spectacular. Already can’t wait to return. Highly recommend this crew and the Moorings.

Our crew was fabulous, Lucy and Mark were extremely professional and a pleasure to be around. We loved our boat and they kept it neat and organized the entire trip. The food was wonderful! Even with picky eaters everyone was very happy with our meals. Dessert each night was a wonderful surprise.
