World Ocean Day: Looking After What Makes It All Worth It
If you’ve spent time on the water, you know the feeling. The quiet when you drop anchor. A swim before lunch, moving along a coastline without needing to rush anywhere.
That’s what World Ocean Day is really about. A reminder of why the ocean matters, and why it’s worth looking after.
It takes place every year on June 8, but for us, it’s not just a date. The ocean is what makes every Moorings trip what it is. Without it, none of this works.
That’s where Our OCEAN Promise comes in. It’s how we’re working to protect the places you come to enjoy, without changing what makes a week on the water feel right.

Why it matters (especially when you’re on a boat)
When you’re travelling by yacht, you notice more. Clear water, healthy reefs, and quieter anchorages. You also notice when things aren’t quite right.
World Ocean Day is about paying attention to that, and making sure the places we sail in stay that way.
For The Moorings, it’s simple. If we want to keep offering trips that feel easy, calm, and properly set up, the environment behind them needs to be looked after too.

Better set up, with less impact
A lot of this comes down to how things are set up behind the scenes.
Across the fleet, we’re making changes to reduce impact without changing how your time onboard feels. That includes more efficient systems and electric outboard engines in the Med.
You’ll still have the same experience you expect. Space, comfort, and award-winning yachts designed to make time on the water feel easy. The difference is in how that experience is supported.
Some of the most useful changes are the simple ones. On certain yachts, you can refill drinking water straight from the tap. No plastic bottles, no extra planning. Just a cleaner, easier setup onboard.
It also goes beyond the boat. We support conservation work in the destinations we sail in, helping protect the coastlines and marine life that shape each trip.
And then there are the smaller things. A bit more awareness around reefs, waste, and how you move through each stop. Nothing complicated, just simple choices that add up.
That’s really the idea. Do better where it matters, while keeping everything else exactly as it should be.

Not just one day
World Ocean Day is a good reminder, but this isn’t something we should think about once a year.
Our OCEAN Promise is ongoing. Improving how we run our fleet, reducing waste, supporting conservation, and doing it all without changing what people come to The Moorings for.
A trip that feels easy. Well set up. Worth your time.

This World Ocean Day
Spending time on the water and looking after it should go together, That’s the whole point.
Because the better we look after it, the better it is to come back to. Explore The Moorings charters and spend time on the water the way it should be.
