Virgin Gorda Island

 

One of the largest islands of the BVI, Virgin Gorda boasts a raft of attractions ranging from the intriguing rock formation known as The Baths to the pleasures of the North Sound, where resorts, marinas, and scenic anchorages are abundant. Of particular interest is the Bitter End resort and marina, famous throughout the Caribbean for its nautical charm. You could spend your entire charter within the sheltered waters of North Sound, and many cruisers opt to stay at least two days to go yachting in Bitter End waters.

Mooring

There are nine mooring sites available for a fee and/or scenic anchorages in North Sound alone. Holding is generally good.

Dinghy dockage: Most of the marinas and resorts in North Sound offer dinghy dockage.

Things to do

The Baths is a major attraction on Virgin Gorda, where you can explore the rock formation’s tunnels, pools, and caves. In North Sound, the roster of potential activities is immense. You can experience fine dining, shopping, sightseeing tours, and all kinds of watersports from Windsurfing to kayaking.

Facilities

The major marinas and resorts in North Sound include Leverick Bay Resort and Marina, Bitter End resort and marina, and Saba Rock resort and marina. They offer all possible amenities for charterers. There are also many other smaller establishments throughout the sound. Slips, fuel, ice, water, garbage disposal, laundry facilities, showers, and provisions are available.
