Captain Johan grew up always having a plan A and plan B career choice, however, always hoped to become a Skipper like his dad. Growing up, he spent a lot of time with his mom, she is a chef who ran her own restaurants, so he got pulled towards cooking and pursued a career as a chef. He went on to do training at resorts on various islands in between his schooling, plus worked at some of these locations after graduating college. During his tenure working on cruise ships as a chef, an opportunity came along with The Moorings and that’s when the transition happened. He has always had great knowledge and skills gained from fellow sailors; but he took this passion and went on to earn his qualifications, followed by multiple boat deliveries, and many mile building opportunities including an Atlantic Crossing, which has built him into the well-rounded captain he is today. He says, “My ever-lasting love for the ocean and boats makes me a humble skipper with a passion for making people feel comfortable and happy.”
