No matter what your level of experience, The Moorings has an option for you to enjoy a boating vacation. Those with no experience can enjoy a bareboat charter with a Captain at any of our destinations, a Fully Crewed Yacht or a lesson with our partners in the Offshore Sailing School. In addition to this, those with some experience can charter and captain a Moorings yacht in many of our beautiful locations and for the experts then all sailing areas become part of the bareboat charter choice.
If you have sailed before, even if you have not spent much time as captain, you will most likely qualify to charter one of our yachts. An understanding of basic seamanship, boat handling and navigation is all that is required to charter in many of our locations although some of the more technical destinations will require more experience.
No formal certification is required for most regions and by completing our Sailboat Resume and submitting it on-line, we will immediately inform you what size yacht you qualify to sail with us and which destinations are appropriate for your experience.
Once you book your vacation, we will also ensure you are completely comfortable before you leave the dock. Prior to sailing, you will receive a full briefing on your yacht and it's equipment plus a detailed chart briefing on your cruising area. If you wish, we will even provide you with a complimentary Moorings "Friendly Skipper" for several hours on your first day of sailing.
