Our first time sailing the British Virgin Islands in June was a magical experience aboard Seas the Day.
The fully-crewed charter included Captain Andy and Chef Linzi whose experience, attention to detail and hospitality made our trip absolutely perfect!
The catamaran was gorgeous – well kept, roomy and stocked with everything you can imagine. Captain Andy was fun and engaging, teaching us about sailing and knowledgable about all of the islands.
Chef Linzi is absolutely phenomenal, whipping up delicious 5-star meals for our group of 8. There was nothing that disappointed.
If you are thinking about taking a trip to the BVI, I highly suggest The Moorings and Captain Andy and Chef Linzi on Seas the Day!

We had the best time and everything about our trip was top notch. The Moorings was great to work with and my expectations were exceeded. Especially loved Captain Lee. She was the BEST!

A crewed yacht (4500L sailing catamaran) in BVI was the best trip ever. Took the family of four (kids 17 & 22 yrs) and we all had a great time on the five night cruise. So relaxing. Service was excellent. Captain Jackie was a pro and crew Marlyn created the best meals. Cocktail hour was a fun assortment of new drinks to try every night. Every stop was breathtaking and gorgeous. Great snorkeling and water fun every day. Hit popular tourist spots as well as some quiet coves. All fantastic! Saw several sea turtles, rays, and lots of fish. As working parents who needed a break from the usual grind, this was ideal and so relaxing. Worth every penny!

Dear “Customer Service Team,
I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the recent charter of Pitter Patter through The Moorings Bahamas. My wife and I have chartered with your company at least five times in the past, and we understand that boats can experience mechanical issues. However, what we experienced on this trip was far beyond a typical breakdown—it reflected poor management, a lack of transparency, and decisions that compromised both our safety and enjoyment.
We arrived on time and were fully prepared for our scheduled departure. Upon arrival, Christopher Robbins informed us that the boat needed to be cleaned and that this would take approximately 1–2 hours. Almost immediately afterward, he told us the boat had been struck by lightning a few days earlier.
He then stated that the team had been working on the boat for days to get it ready. This directly contradicted his earlier comment about needing to clean it, so I asked him for clarification: “Have you been working on it for days, or did it just get back today and now needs to be cleaned?” That inconsistency raised immediate concerns about the boat’s readiness and safety.
Mr. Robbins left us sitting in the office for about an hour. Upon his return, he reported that the fuel gauge and water maker were not working, but they were “working on it.” He offered us an alternative: a switch to a power catamaran. My wife and I agreed, believing it would be better to take the power cat than risk a rushed repair on the damaged sailboat.
We inspected the power cat, agreed to take it, and were told it simply needed to be cleaned. About an hour later, Mr. Robbins returned and told us the power cat now had “issues.” I suspect this boat was being held because it needed to be delivered to a different Moorings location, as the explanation didn’t add up. His new solution was to “visually inspect” the fuel and water tanks and send us out on the sailboat anyway, despite his earlier claims that it was unfit to sail. Once again, this inconsistency was alarming. Checking the fuel requires lifting the bed mattress and the cover door to access the tank.
We finally departed almost five hours late, with no working water maker, no fuel gauge, and a boat we did not feel safe on—but we were eager to get underway. Upon arrival at our first destination, we quickly discovered additional failures:
• None of the appliances or outlets worked.
• Two of the heads were non-functional.
• The forward light box was left open with taped wires exposed.
• The generator randomly shut off, killing the air conditioning.
• We could not even charge our phones—leaving us without access to navigation tools and wind/tide apps.
I called maintenance, and even the manager agreed that the boat was not fit for sailing. We requested the power cat be delivered to us immediately.
The next day, we were told it would arrive around noon. At 1:00 PM, I called for an update. They were “about to leave.” At 2:00 PM, they were “leaving the dock.” At 3:00 PM, we were told they had “just left.” The boat finally arrived at 4:30 PM. We essentially lost two full days of our charter waiting around due to inconsistent communication and poor coordination. Had we been told the truth about the delay, we could have at least explored the island instead of waiting on false timelines.
To make matters worse, when I requested to speak with Mr. Robbins again, he refused to speak with me. It was clear he was in over his head, and that proper support and leadership were lacking throughout this situation.
This situation could have been avoided had we been given honest, consistent information and a truly seaworthy vessel. I look forward to your response and to resolving this matter fairly.Sincerely,

We recently sailed with friends and Captain Andy and Chef Linzi.
It was an amazing experience!! Captain Andy met with us over Zoom before the charter to get an idea of what we wanted and planned what islands we would visit. We learned about sailing with his daily “chart chat”. The food was outstanding but our favorite was “Linzi’s Nibbles” and Andy’s cocktails before dinner.
I highly recommend Moorings and Andy Linzi!! -
Absolutely one of our favorite trips. Not only were the BVI’s breathtaking, the weather was perfect, the staff at Moorings were fantastic. I highly recommend them. We had our dinghy’s motor cover fly off from high winds and they drove to us to replace it. Great customer service. We will be back ❤️

Great experience! The restaurant, service, dockage are great. Coming back in 2026 as Lindsey, Julian, Ryan made our first time voyage a breeze. What a great vacay hopping around BVI…thanks to The Moorings!
-
We had an unforgettable week aboard Blue Eyes with The Moorings, thanks to our incredible crew, Chevone and Jos!
Jos was a fantastic captain who planned a well-balanced itinerary full of beautiful sights, fun stops, and plenty of time to relax. He even doubled as our evening mixologist, surprising us with fun and refreshing cocktails each night!
Chevone’s cooking was exceptional. Every meal was fresh, thoughtful, and delicious. She went out of her way to tailor the menu to our group’s dietary needs and preferences, and nailed it every time.
Both Chevone and Jos were warm, professional, and made us feel completely at home on Blue Eyes. We couldn’t have asked for a better team to guide us through paradise. Thank you, Chevone and Jos, for making our BVI experience unforgettable!

This was our tenth charter with The Moorings—and the fifth in the Caribbean. We’ve come to rely on the professionalism and consistency of The Moorings brand, and Antigua rose to the occasion. Beyond that, the base manager Brittany helped us through a medical emergency with wisdom and grace. We’ve written a letter with more detail to the headquarters, but I wanted to highlight here as well.
We are forever grateful — looking forward to many more adventures to come!

This was our second trip aboard Seas The Day with Captain Andy and Chef Linzi! Last trip was with friends and this trip with our 3 adult children. Just like the BVI sunsets a vacation aboard Seas the Day with Andy and Linzi never disappoints!
Yes you will be surrounded by beautiful turquoise blue water, gentle breezes, and stunning scenery as you sail from island to island but the difference between a good vacation and an amazing vacation will be Andy and Linzi. They know the locals, the secluded bays, the busy beaches, the bars and beach clubs and they both have great perception to figure out what it is, that best suits your vibe.
Andy’s experience at the helm is unmatched , safety is paramount and all you will have to do is sit back and enjoy. Linzi had her work cut out for her on this trip with several food preferences and she surpassed expectations with every meal. Five star reviews by all on board. Captain’s cocktails and nibbles in the afternoon were again one of our favorite parts of each day.
Our accommodations were great, water toys were plenty, destinations each day were perfect, and time spent with family – priceless. The captain and chef management of our locations and meals made it all possible. ( Shout out to Linzi and the manager of the Lobster Tail for finding and retrieving a lost phone on an island we had already left!)
In summary, take the trip, request Captain Andy and Chef Linzi aboard Seas the Day. you will not be disappointed!

A complex trip due to our own logistics….but due to fabulous personnel from pre-charter concierge service walking us through every step of the way, to the front desk people, to the cleaners, to the check out help s and of course the great men on the dock who are so proficient. We had a blast! We had two groups…each one totalling 8 people (including my husband-the captain and myself-the organizer) for 6 nights each back to back. First group was godson with wife, parents (good friend) and 2 kids 6 and 4. The second group were mid-50’s couples, nieces and nephew and spouses.
Never have had kids this young and I was wary of them being bored and of course for their safety. All was excellent…we even had a treasure hunt on Sandy Cay that was a highlight for the kids and us! They fished, swam, loved the beach, explored the Baths…each day was better than the last.
The craft Power Craft Mooring 534 PC was a dream. The comfort level was over the top…so spacious, full sized refrigerator-freezer (we never had to buy ice -a first!) The staterooms/baths also were the most spacious we have experienced and each one climate controlled. We ran short of water towards end of trip and actually made our own.
Everything is computerized and and took some getting used to and at one point (the night before we switched out groups) the computer froze and even when we rebooted could not get it back. But we were headed back to Moorings to regroup and it was fixed immediately.
When we switched groups…as one was leaving, the others were arriving. We enjoyed lunch at the Moorings and being poolside while a cleaning crew cleaned the cat and supplied new linens. And another six nights of fun experiencing the BVI’s began.
We have been chartering with the Moorings since 1976…usually going every two years. Most of our trips have been to the BVI’s with a couple to Greece. Reading the other reviews I noticed some complaints and most seemed rather insignificant issues. When it comes to customer service the Moorings are hard to beat…sure things have gone wrong…but when it comes to major issues they are there to assist which is very reassuring when you’re in a panic…like when the steering cable broke under full sail in the middle of SFD Channel, or when our motor went out while coming into Cane Garden Bay, or several other incidences that we experienced. Overall The Moorings to be responsible for our well being.
We’ll be back for another high-seas’ adventure!

Amazing week on Knotty Toddy with Captain Richard and Chef Shelly! Our whole family had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful BVIs. Richard took us to so many cool places (annd great cocktails!) and Shelly spoiled us with her exceptional food. We can’t wait to go back!
-
I was very impressed with this trip from the Moorings. We had a couple of people who were captains. The young man, his name is Shaq, was very thorough, professional, and engaging in going over our checklist. I was very impresswd with this young man. The other Moorings stafd were also friendly, professiona, and helpful.

We did a crewed 7-day trip in the BVI’s and the trip and the Crew were amazing. Francesco our Captain and Nika the chef were so great. Beyond our expectations. They made every effort to make sure we had a great time and a fabulous vacation. Can’t think them enough. Chip

We went on a 7-day crewed trip through the BVI’s on the 534 Power Cat, Blue Eyes. The Mooring is very professional and well run. All the necessary paperwork was taken care of ahead of time and the check-in process was quick and easy. Our crew Jos and Chevone were outstanding and delivered an amazing experience that exceeded our expectations. We had an introduction call a week before the trip with Jos and Chevone and they provided many helpful tips (apply for a fishing license) along with asking us detailed questions about what activities we wanted to do. We started the trip with an outstanding champagne lunch on board the first day. The food was amazing, and they threw a wonderful birthday party for my wife including a homemade chocolate cake. The snorkeling and beaches were outstanding. On the nights we went ashore for dinner their recommendations were excellent, and they arranged all of the reservations and transportation. This was one of the most relaxing and stress-free vacations any of us had ever taken. Our whole group said this was vacation of a lifetime and everyone can’t wait to book our next trip! We can’t thank Jos and Chevone enough for such a wonderful trip and experience.

We had a great time on our bareboat charter in the British Virgin Islands. The only downside is having to go through The Moorings. Poorly ran company, poor communication and they simply just do not care about the customer. They have gotten so big that they do not have the bandwidth or resources to provide proper customer service.
Once we left the dock, it was fantastic, especially because of our captain, Captain Giacomo! He was simply the best. Giacomo took care of us from the minute we stepped on the boat. Instantly you could tell that he was there to make sure we had the best experience possible for our voyage. He was extremely thorough in helping us put together an itinerary to make sure we could maximize the time we had on the boat. (on this note I would recommend that the moorings allow communication between the captain and the guest so an itinerary can be put together before getting on the boat) Giacomo was very attentive to our request and made sure that all guest on the charter were comfortable. I could not be more happy with Giacomo and would recommend that anyone going on a charter to do whatever they can to reserve him to be their captain!
I would say that the only reason this is a 4 star review is because of Giacomo. If the company was smart they would look to hire 100 more of Giacomo!
The Moorings is not easy to work with and they definitely do not appreciate the amount of time and money people spend to go on these trips.

We chartered a 4500L with friends and family for 5 days and had the best time. This is truly the trip of a lifetime and there is nothing like it.
Captain Giacomo (“Captain Jack”) was such an incredible captain and fit for our group. He was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and accommodating. He did a great job at hitting all of the spots that we wanted to see as well as recommending slight changes to our plans for smoother logistics or more beautiful views. He had our mooring balls reserved every morning at 7AM on the dot and was well prepared the entire trip. He became a great friend to us all and we look forward to calling him when we are ready to charter again!
-
What a spectacular week with our four young adult children! Capt Andy making sure we maximized our adventures and Chef Linzi preparing over the top impressive meals. Every day we enjoyed Linzi’s “nibbles” with drinks to watch the sunset. We will be back!
-
Absolute trip of a lifetime! Perfect combination of adventure and relaxation plus the best food for every single meal! We chartered Captain Andy and Chef Lenzi who made sure every aspect of the trip was amazing. This is our 2nd trip with them and I couldn’t recommend them more.

The overall the sailing experience in the BVI was incredible. However, The Mooring fell short of my expectations. Upon arrival to Tortola, we stayed in The Moorings lodging after a 12-hour travel day. I was looking forward to a hot shower, but there was no hot water in our room. The Mooring Staff was not friendly, and it was very uninviting. It was as if they were entitled.
The Moorings messed up on our provisions and we lost 2 hours of sailing time obtaining the correct provisions had we originally ordered. The oven on the sailing vessel did not work and the barbeque was very marginal. And one of the coolers for ice leaked. When we follow-up up on our concerns, the Customer Service was not at all helpful or willing to make things right.
We did love our Captain! JP was great…he was responsible, fun and very accommodating. He knew what he was doing, and he made us feel very safe.
I am looking forward to my next sailing trip in the BVI, but it will not be through The Moorings.
