Captain Andy & Chef Linzi were an incredible duo who provided my family and me with truly superb service. They are both so personable and delivered a genuine 5-star experience from start to finish.
Captain Andy crafted the perfect itinerary for our group and was extremely accommodating throughout the entire trip. Chef Linzi not only prepared the most amazing meals—so good that many days we didn’t even want to leave the boat—but also kept everything impeccably clean and organized. Managing a group of 10 on a boat that size is no small feat, and she handled it effortlessly.
Together, they created such a relaxing, fun, and seamless experience for our family. Having done a similar trip in the past without a captain and chef, I can confidently say I would never go back to doing it any other way.
As Captain Andy said on day one, he hoped the week would feel like 2–3 weeks—and somehow, it really did. Every aspect of this charter was a 10/10: Andy’s sailing expertise and knowledge, Linzi’s incredible food (especially her cocktail hour nibbles—an 11/10!), the cleanliness of the boat, and the overall atmosphere and vibe.
We have a strong feeling our group will absolutely be back to sail again with Captain Andy & Chef Linzi.

The boat was prepped and ready. All of our pre requested food items were already on board. The boat was comfortable for the 8 of us. No problems with the boat. The staff at The Moorings who helped us with the boat were great.
The front seat staff at check in were not so helpful. Young women at counter acted like she didn’ watt to be boteredered with customers. Otherwise all was good -
Captain Andy and Chef Linzi were absolutely incredible—they made every day in the BVIs feel truly special.
Linzi’s cooking was a standout from start to finish—everything from perfectly done surf and turf to casual favorites like pulled pork sandwiches was unbelievable. Every meal felt thoughtful and elevated, and we were always excited to see what she’d create next. She never missed.
Andy’s expertise is on another level. From knowing the best spots and getting ahead of the crowds by securing top moorings early in the morning, to understanding the waters and safety in ways others simply don’t—it made the entire trip feel seamless and stress-free. You could tell we were always in the best hands while still having an amazing, fun sailing experience.
I’d 100% recommend them and would absolutely come back just because of this amazing duo. Easily one of the best vacations we’ve ever had.

Cannot say enough good things about Captain Andy and Chef Linzi. What a husband-wife team that make the trip unforgettable. Both are easy to get along with and very professional. They made us feel at ease and safe throughout the entire journey. Their intimate knowledge of the area and their recommendations for ‘go-to destinations’ were always spot-on. Loved the way Andy shared nautical tidbits throughout the trip and Linzi’s food was amazing.
We traveled with my cousin and his family and it is common for each of us to call one another ‘cousin’. Mid-way through the trip, we were addressing Andy and Linzi as ‘Cousin Andy’ and ‘Cousin Linzi’ as our comfort level was so high with them both. Hopeful they will take us up on our offer to come visit us in Cape May, NJ.

We’ve bareboat chartered in the BVI many time over many years, starting in the late 1990’s. This time I decided to let someone else be responsible and do all the work, so we chartered a 58′ cat with a captain and a chef. IT WAS HANDS DOWN THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES! Our captain, Cosy, was exceptionally nice, helpful, attentive and made our requested itinerary work out great. Jan, our chef, made every meal a gourmet experience, tailored to our preferences and beautifully presented. We were blessed with perfect weather and the 10 day blew by. We can’t wait to do this again. GO! You won’t regret it one bit.

5 nights cruising with skipper out of Road Town. 4 stateroom 45 foot cat. Novice sailor, and Moorings was excellent at preparing me for the trip. Arranged for snorkel gear that had to be rented. Provisioning the boat for breakfast and lunch was very convenient with Rite Way store in the area, and the Moorings Market and the French Deli on site. The freezer and refrigerator space on the boat was surprisingly ample for all of our needs. We ate breakfast and lunch on the boat, with dinners at restaurants near our mooring site. Food on the islands was quite good but expensive. Our skipper was very qualified and provided some guidance to our excursion but was certainly not a tour guide. Family loved it and hopefully will remember it for a long time.

Captain Andy & Chef Linzi made our experience on “Seas The Day” the most memorable and exceptional vacation of our lives. We didn’t have to figure out how to do anything but relax and have fun. Chef Linzi turned our birthday celebration for my husband with banners, homemade cake, and balloons on the boat. When we turned up at the restaurant she had decorated our reserved table, too. Thier cohesive work ethic was above anything I’ve ever experienced, as well. I enjoyed this trip so much and can’t rate it high enough. 10++++++++

Our group of 6 (2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 kids) had an amazing time on our bareboat catamaran charter with a hired skipper. We have been to the BVI before and some of us have chartered with The Moorings so we knew what to expect in general. Life on a boat like this is not luxurious but our catamaran was generally well-outfitted and functioned properly.
Our captain, Mathieu Martinez, was unquestionably the difference between having a good vacation and having a magical, special experience. Mathieu is simply exceptional in every way. He listened to our goals for the trip (lots of sailing, snorkeling and swimming; going off the beaten path to less-busy locations) and he delivered exactly what we wanted. He is a confident, competent, organized skipper and we felt safe and secure under his guidance. He was also immediately responsive any time we asked a question or contacted him from shore. In addition to doing his job as a skipper so well, Mathieu’s personality and approach to life are refreshing and delightful. He has an incredible sense of humor and delights in learning about others so we had such fun talking with him, sharing stories, and getting to know each other. Mathieu’s care for us made it feel like he was an extension of our family, and he treated my children like they were his little siblings or cousins. Easter fell during our trip and Mathieu swam to shore with filled Easter eggs in a dry bag to hide them on the beach before the kids were awake. His thoughtfulness and willingness to go the extra mile to make a memorable experience for us rendered me speechless. Mathieu is simply the best and anyone who has him as a skipper should consider themselves lucky!

Andy & Linzi were fabulous!
Professional, friendly and exactly the right mix of helpfulness and attentiveness. Food was exceptional and credit goes to Linzi, but Andy’s egg were pretty great too. Now to lose the 3kg that they so helpfully added to my wasteline.
I would go and again and with them.

We needed some help on our boat and we saw Captain Matty on a boat near by! He didn’t hesitate — came on board fixed our problems and helped us out! If you need a captain HE IS YOUR GUY! 5 stars! He knows what he is doing !

We spent spring break with Romano and Sylvia with three young kids and they showed us an unforgettable time! Sailing, snorkeling, turtles, and more. The food was fantastic and they really made us all feel right at home. The boat was extremely well taken care of and tidy all trip long! 10/10 would go back!

We recently spent an incredible week on Seas The Day with Captain Andy & Chef Linzi.
The trip was nothing short of amazing.
If an email arrives in your inbox advising that you have been assigned to Captain Andy & Chef Linzi then it is truly your lucky day. First and foremost, they provide a safe experience. In addition, this dynamic due take care of EVERYTHING with great attention to detail. From pulling down paddles boards, quick trips ashore to suggested snorkeling locations. They do it all. They listened to our preferences and incorporated them into the trip, making it even more special. They also arranged amazing offshore excursions for us. Importantly, their deep knowledge of the area allowed us to avoid crowds which we greatly appreciated. They know areas that many boats do not.
In addition, the food and drinks aboard are top notch and plentiful. Great meals three times a day with evening “nibbles” and a specialized cocktail. Chef Linzi prepared fresh meals that we all agreed were delicious. She further showed a deep culinary reservoir by preparing a broad spectrum of meals including tuna, steak, shrimp, pasta, veggies and salads and desserts. They also have a full bar on board with beer, wines and soft drinks. No went hungry or thirsty.
Last, but certainly not least, the boat is amazing. We were a family of four plus a guest and felt that we had plenty of space. My family had never been on a boat for a full week before and I had some concerns that they would feel like they were on top of each other. We had no problems at all. The layout of the boat provided lots of space for my family to roam around. Each cabin had its own bathroom and even air-conditioning. The seating space on the bow, stern and upper deck are luxurious. It is a great boat.
We have gone on many family trips but it was universally agreed that this was one of the best trips ever. We are already planning our return. Many thanks to Captain Andy and Chef Linzi for making it an amazing vacation!

It’s not easy to find a vacation that exceeds the expectations of 6 family members with varying ages, passions, and meal choices, but our recent BVI charter on the “Funky Miracle” did just that thanks to Captain George Telos and Chef Cheryl. From the moment we stepped aboard, their professionalism and competence were evident in every aspect of our trip. Captain George skillfully navigated the islands, ensuring smooth and safe journeys while tailoring the itinerary perfectly based on our choices (even when they changed mid-day). Chef Cheryl consistently delighted our family with gourmet, Caribbean-inspired meals crafted to our preferences, especially her bountiful breakfasts each morning!
Captain George is a well-traveled, experienced sailor, and we delighted in his willingness to open the sails whenever possible, making our days on the beautiful water unforgettable. With some prompting, he shared interesting stories of his past charters in Greece, Thailand, and beyond- offering a worldliness we admired! He will enhance any charter due to his professionalism and affable personality.
Chef Cheryl must be a master at provisioning because we were never hungry and the quality of her meals remained high through our entire week together.
We thank them and the Moorings for exceeding 6 people’s high expectations and giving us a trip of a lifetime!

The BVIs are beautiful and the sailing is awesome!!! I highly recommend paying the extra money to get a newer boat. We got an older boat and it had (many) issues! The rigging was all good, but the little things added up; the lines weren’t set up, grill quit working, a cooktop burner didn’t work, cushions weren’t secure, constant bad odor, etc. The dinghy latch did not operate smoothly… Also, be sure to check the medical kit- ours was missing some key items which we needed. And lastly, check for paper products, spices and trash bags… those should be standard on the boat.
This may read as a complaint, but it’s not. We had a fabulous adventure… just a heads up to be proactive when (& if!) you do your boat briefing. Happy sails! -
My family chartered two yachts with Moorings for 7 days in March (2026). We bareboated one, and hired a moorings captain (Gilson Melo) for the other. We had an incredibly good time sailing around the islands with many memorable stops, excellent rum drinks, and beautiful weather. The boats were spacious and handled our large group, 22 total, very well. Captain Gilson was very knowledgeable, his input and advice greatly improved our trip plan (while still getting us to all the places we wanted to go). Although one yacht had issues with the charging system, the moorings team was able to meet us along our route and replace the charger very quickly without delaying our plans or otherwise negatively effecting the trip. The yachts (5000 and 4500 sailing cats) were in good shape and performed well. We are already making plans for the next trip, can’t wait to get back!

Tnx to The Moorings, we enjoyed a spectacular week of bareboat sailing in Belize – our third sailing trip in the Belize Barrier Reef sailing grounds. Moorings provided us with a 4200 3-cabin catamaran in excellent condition. We sailed every day of the week (notwithstanding some periodic showers), received timely advice each AM from the Moorings base on wind, tide and wave conditions – and truly enjoyed ever minute on the water. If you want to truly escape crowded sailing grounds and just relax – Belize is the place!
-
We had the most amazing experience! Our group of 22 had two cats, and spent 7 days exploring the BVIs. Our captain Gilson made our experience beyond excellent. He had great recommendations, was a patient and encouraging coach for those in our party eager to assist, and was a continually positive presence in our big group. Even with a large group, we were all comfortable and were thrilled with our trip!

We had a wonderful 6 night family sailing trip in the BVI’s on a 5800 Catamaran. Our family of 10 was from 6 months to 80 years. The boat was awesome for hanging out during sail or enjoying the mooring location or eating. Our Captain and Chef were extremely experienced and wonderful people. They were so helpful with our 4 little boys (4 yr to 6 months) and even the seniors when they needed help getting in the dingy. We loved the long sails, snorkeled, paddle boarded, visited beaches & the Baths, ate lobster at a restaurant on Anegada. This was our second trip. They both were wonderful!
-
Our extended family rented two cats and had a fantastic time. We sailed around the entire archipelago for a week and enjoyed the sailing, snorkeling, and beaches.
Gilson, our captain, was an excellent sailor and guide. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to do and he always came up with an added suggestion or wrinkle that improved the day.
-
What a wonderful family trip!
Gilson not only captained our 50’ cat but guided the 45’ bare boat that was manned by the rest of our 22 person clan! We had a blast!
The boats were comfortable, the winds were strong, the anchorages were perfect, and the memories made are priceless. Thank you!
