We spent spring break with Romano and Sylvia with three young kids and they showed us an unforgettable time! Sailing, snorkeling, turtles, and more. The food was fantastic and they really made us all feel right at home. The boat was extremely well taken care of and tidy all trip long! 10/10 would go back!

We recently spent an incredible week on Seas The Day with Captain Andy & Chef Linzi.
The trip was nothing short of amazing.
If an email arrives in your inbox advising that you have been assigned to Captain Andy & Chef Linzi then it is truly your lucky day. First and foremost, they provide a safe experience. In addition, this dynamic due take care of EVERYTHING with great attention to detail. From pulling down paddles boards, quick trips ashore to suggested snorkeling locations. They do it all. They listened to our preferences and incorporated them into the trip, making it even more special. They also arranged amazing offshore excursions for us. Importantly, their deep knowledge of the area allowed us to avoid crowds which we greatly appreciated. They know areas that many boats do not.
In addition, the food and drinks aboard are top notch and plentiful. Great meals three times a day with evening “nibbles” and a specialized cocktail. Chef Linzi prepared fresh meals that we all agreed were delicious. She further showed a deep culinary reservoir by preparing a broad spectrum of meals including tuna, steak, shrimp, pasta, veggies and salads and desserts. They also have a full bar on board with beer, wines and soft drinks. No went hungry or thirsty.
Last, but certainly not least, the boat is amazing. We were a family of four plus a guest and felt that we had plenty of space. My family had never been on a boat for a full week before and I had some concerns that they would feel like they were on top of each other. We had no problems at all. The layout of the boat provided lots of space for my family to roam around. Each cabin had its own bathroom and even air-conditioning. The seating space on the bow, stern and upper deck are luxurious. It is a great boat.
We have gone on many family trips but it was universally agreed that this was one of the best trips ever. We are already planning our return. Many thanks to Captain Andy and Chef Linzi for making it an amazing vacation!

It’s not easy to find a vacation that exceeds the expectations of 6 family members with varying ages, passions, and meal choices, but our recent BVI charter on the “Funky Miracle” did just that thanks to Captain George Telos and Chef Cheryl. From the moment we stepped aboard, their professionalism and competence were evident in every aspect of our trip. Captain George skillfully navigated the islands, ensuring smooth and safe journeys while tailoring the itinerary perfectly based on our choices (even when they changed mid-day). Chef Cheryl consistently delighted our family with gourmet, Caribbean-inspired meals crafted to our preferences, especially her bountiful breakfasts each morning!
Captain George is a well-traveled, experienced sailor, and we delighted in his willingness to open the sails whenever possible, making our days on the beautiful water unforgettable. With some prompting, he shared interesting stories of his past charters in Greece, Thailand, and beyond- offering a worldliness we admired! He will enhance any charter due to his professionalism and affable personality.
Chef Cheryl must be a master at provisioning because we were never hungry and the quality of her meals remained high through our entire week together.
We thank them and the Moorings for exceeding 6 people’s high expectations and giving us a trip of a lifetime!

The BVIs are beautiful and the sailing is awesome!!! I highly recommend paying the extra money to get a newer boat. We got an older boat and it had (many) issues! The rigging was all good, but the little things added up; the lines weren’t set up, grill quit working, a cooktop burner didn’t work, cushions weren’t secure, constant bad odor, etc. The dinghy latch did not operate smoothly… Also, be sure to check the medical kit- ours was missing some key items which we needed. And lastly, check for paper products, spices and trash bags… those should be standard on the boat.
This may read as a complaint, but it’s not. We had a fabulous adventure… just a heads up to be proactive when (& if!) you do your boat briefing. Happy sails! -
My family chartered two yachts with Moorings for 7 days in March (2026). We bareboated one, and hired a moorings captain (Gilson Melo) for the other. We had an incredibly good time sailing around the islands with many memorable stops, excellent rum drinks, and beautiful weather. The boats were spacious and handled our large group, 22 total, very well. Captain Gilson was very knowledgeable, his input and advice greatly improved our trip plan (while still getting us to all the places we wanted to go). Although one yacht had issues with the charging system, the moorings team was able to meet us along our route and replace the charger very quickly without delaying our plans or otherwise negatively effecting the trip. The yachts (5000 and 4500 sailing cats) were in good shape and performed well. We are already making plans for the next trip, can’t wait to get back!

Tnx to The Moorings, we enjoyed a spectacular week of bareboat sailing in Belize – our third sailing trip in the Belize Barrier Reef sailing grounds. Moorings provided us with a 4200 3-cabin catamaran in excellent condition. We sailed every day of the week (notwithstanding some periodic showers), received timely advice each AM from the Moorings base on wind, tide and wave conditions – and truly enjoyed ever minute on the water. If you want to truly escape crowded sailing grounds and just relax – Belize is the place!

We had the most amazing experience! Our group of 22 had two cats, and spent 7 days exploring the BVIs. Our captain Gilson made our experience beyond excellent. He had great recommendations, was a patient and encouraging coach for those in our party eager to assist, and was a continually positive presence in our big group. Even with a large group, we were all comfortable and were thrilled with our trip!
-
We had a wonderful 6 night family sailing trip in the BVI’s on a 5800 Catamaran. Our family of 10 was from 6 months to 80 years. The boat was awesome for hanging out during sail or enjoying the mooring location or eating. Our Captain and Chef were extremely experienced and wonderful people. They were so helpful with our 4 little boys (4 yr to 6 months) and even the seniors when they needed help getting in the dingy. We loved the long sails, snorkeled, paddle boarded, visited beaches & the Baths, ate lobster at a restaurant on Anegada. This was our second trip. They both were wonderful!
-
Our extended family rented two cats and had a fantastic time. We sailed around the entire archipelago for a week and enjoyed the sailing, snorkeling, and beaches.
Gilson, our captain, was an excellent sailor and guide. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to do and he always came up with an added suggestion or wrinkle that improved the day.
-
What a wonderful family trip!
Gilson not only captained our 50’ cat but guided the 45’ bare boat that was manned by the rest of our 22 person clan! We had a blast!
The boats were comfortable, the winds were strong, the anchorages were perfect, and the memories made are priceless. Thank you!
-
The Moorings did a great job of prepping us before we arrived and getting us aboard after. We stayed on the boat the night before departure which I would suggest you do if possible. This gave us extra time to become familiar with the boat and come up with any questions we had for the boat briefing. Also, the provisioning store at the Moorings did NOT have everything we ordered, and we had to go to the Riteway (only a few minutes from the marina). The boat (Tamichi Drift) performed perfectly all week. When we came to dock at the end of the trip, we requested assistance and within five minutes help arrived.
-
Good value for what you get. Powercat we were given did not have a working bow thruster or water maker. Both are pretty important if you are doing a bareboat charter. No compensation was offered or change in vessel. We managed because we stopped to get water at two ports and we have good boat handling skills.
The Moorings base in Tortola has ample showers and toilets but both could use an update.

Best trip ever! I’m convinced that it would not have been as wonderful without our amazing Captain Romano and Chef Sylvia. They went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. Romano was very knowledgeable about the area and planned us an incredible itinerary based around our interests. I’m still daydreaming about Sylvia’s food! They both helped us feel at ease and at home on the boat. Such a fun trip!
-
Our trip to the BVI on a 40 foot power cat was amazing. The boat was relatively new. It was in great shape. Harbor staff was helpful and very accommodating. Wind conditions were up, 20-25 MPH winds all the time. It calmed down for our voyage to Anegada.
This is a great way to see the islands.
The High points for the boat:
Full size refrigerator, water maker and layout. Cabins were very comfortable. The boat handled the high waves generated by the wind very well.
We are coming back in 18 months, hopefully with an additional couple or two of friends -
We had an amazing experience island hopping in the BVI’s on The Moorings Catamaran 50.0 with friends and family. Our Boat Captain, Chester, was knowledgeable, hard-working, friendly, helpful and fun and he went out of his way to make sure we had a fun and relaxing vacation. I would highly recommend Chester to anyone looking to charter a boat! Excellent service to both the adults and the kids and always with a friendly smile.
-
Boat was okay, briefings were poor. BVIs were fabulous.
I felt sorry for the guy who was thrown into delivering the navigation briefing – and he started with apologizing because he’d only been there two weeks and all he did was read the slides. He knew nothing. I’d spent four months coming up with a passage plan that I wanted to talk to someone about – and I ended up talking to other customers. Poor show.
Boat briefing was also poor. Little extra-knowledge about things such as water tank cutover process (wrong info provided there) and media/bluetooth connection- no knowledge at all there! In fact, the boat briefing guy wanted to spend as little time with us as possible. -
Wasn’t really sure what to expect going into this trip but overall it exceeded my expectations. I believe that was large in part to the friends we went with and the crew we were assigned to. Romano was our Captain and Silvia was our chef but they were more than that. They booked restaurants, taxis, excursions, gave us recommendations and by the end, they became our friends and part of our group. We were given very personalized service for what our group wanted to do. It was nice that they were able to cater the trip to our needs and desires. Each day Silvia would make meals for us from around the world. That was a pretty special touch. Great trip overall.
-
We had the best week sailing in the BVI with our friends. Truly lucked out with our Captain Romano and his adorable wife Silvia. The food was amazing and they were so attentive to any need that we had. Not sure that we could have had a better experience.
-
Our experience with The Moorings for our first ever boat trip to the BVI was amazing! Romano & Silvia were absolutely wonderful and felt like they made the experience even more special. From the food they prepared, to helping us map out which sites to see, and the genuine and humorous conversations made us sad to leave them at the end of our weeklong (6 nights) adventure. We always felt safe and listened to as Romano and Silvia ensured our experience was one to remember. We hope to return with our children and would absolutely charter with the Moorings again and would recommend Romano & Silvia 100%!
-
We just finished a week in the BVI with Romano and Silvia. What an amazing experience. They planned everything, and adjusted the plan based on the activities that resonated with our group. The boat was amazingly clean, the food was incredibly delicious and beautifully presented, and sunset captain’s cocktails were a perfect way to end a day full of exploration on land and in the water. Romano and Silvia made a great vacation truly amazing.
