Day 1

Fishers Bay, Great Guana Cay

Depart from The Moorings Base in Marsh Harbour and cruise towards Fishers Bay on Great Guana Cay. This peaceful island offers calm, turquoise waters and secluded beaches perfect for relaxing. A peaceful first day to your Abacos Sailing Itinerary!

Mooring

The best anchorage is in Fisher’s Bay, just North of Settlement Harbor. Bakers Bay in the North has a great anchorage, but the activities are restricted to the beach, as the rest of property inland is private. Dockage is available at Orchid Bay Marina on the south side of Settlement Harbor.

Dinghy dockage: Dinghy dockage is available at Fisher’s Bay.

Things to do

There are a number of things to do in Fishers Bay, including:

  • Rent a bike from Dive Guana to explore.
  • Visit the famous Grabbers Bar & Grill, or Nipper’s, for amazing food.
  • Venture to Spoil Cay with a dinghy for shell collecting.
  • Swim, snorkel, and sunbathe.
  • Spend the evening watching the stars from your yacht.

Great Guana Cay
Day 2

Manjack Cay

After a leisurely breakfast, cruise over to Manjack Cay (also known as Nunjack Cay), a serene island known for its pristine beaches and clear waters. Take time to explore the natural beauty of this quiet paradise, whether by swimming, snorkeling, or relaxing on the beach. It’s the perfect destination for a peaceful day of exploration and relaxation.

There are no mooring balls here, but it is a safe place to anchor on the west side of the Cay.

  • Hiking. For those looking to explore further, two well-marked hiking trails wind through the island, offering the chance to discover its natural beauty.

Day 3

White Sound, Green Turtle Cay

Today, cruise to White Sound on Green Turtle Cay, a picturesque harbor surrounded by lush greenery. Green Turtle Cay is known for its history and welcoming community. Enjoy a stroll through the charming streets, visit local shops, or indulge in the laid-back Bahamian atmosphere on Day 3 of your Abacos Sailing Itinerary.

Mooring

There are moorings available in White Sound, as well as marina facilities – Green Turtle Club and Bluff House Marina. Anchorages exist off of New Plymouth and outside of White Sound and Cocoa Bay. Holding is poor in Black Sound, but there are mooring buoys and a marina available.

Things to do

Nestled north of Marsh Harbour and surrounded by a stunning jade-green sea, Green Turtle Cay offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and modern charm. Things to do in Turtle Cay include:

  • Spend a night in comfort. Book a night ashore at the Green Turtle Club in White Sound and enjoy exceptional Caribbean fusion cuisine and warm Bahamian hospitality.
  • Learn about marine life. For a unique experience, visit the Captain Roland Roberts House Environment Center to learn about the fascinating ecology of the Bahamas’ reefs through informative exhibits. 
  • Discover the local history. History enthusiasts will enjoy wandering through the Albert Lowe Museum, where art and photography highlight the story of New Plymouth. This island, like many in the Bahamas, became home to former British colonists after the American Revolution, and their legacy is honored with a bronze sculpture in the Memorial Sculpture Garden, paying tribute to those early settlers.

Visit the neighbouring No Name Cay, which we consider to have one of the best beaches in the Bahamas.

Treasure Cay

Man-O-War Cay

Head toward the charming island of Man-O-War Cay, known for its handcrafted wooden boats and charming cottages. With its peaceful beaches and beautiful views, Man-O-War Cay offers a glimpse into island life at its best.

Mooring balls are available in Man-O-War Harbour, while the marina remains inoperable. No anchorage is allowed in the harbour.

There’s plenty to do around the Man-O-War Cay, including: 

  • Shop for souvenirs. Albury’s Sail Shop and Joe’s Studio showcase crafts from local artisans that would make for great gifts.
  • Visit the Albury brothers boat building factory. The Albury family has been building boats in Man O’War Cay for generations. Here, you can learn about Bahamian boat-building traditions. 

Enjoy the beaches. Up by the Narrows, the beaches are particularly tranquil.

Little Harbour

Moorings in Hope Town are available and marina slips can be reserved in advance of your arrival. Mooring balls in Hope Town are first come first served. No anchorage is available in Hope Town Harbor, but due West of the Lighthouse between Elbow Cay and Pirate Cays. Marina dockage will be available at White Sound, and there’s an anchorage off Tahiti Beach.

  • Visit The Wyannie Malone Museum. A tribute to Hope Town’s founder, the museum offers a fascinating look at the American Revolution, shedding light on events that shaped the Bahamas and contributed to its unique character.
  • Visit Elbow Reef Lighthouse. One of our picks for the top things to do in the Bahamas, this is a must-do; the climb to the top rewards you with breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
  • Explore the shops and restaurants. There are many great places to explore within Hope Town – we recommend Cap’n Jack’s in particular. For a more modern experience, head to White Sound, where you can relax at the Firefly Resort or enjoy a meal at Abaco Inn.
