Hello Ocean

Partnering with non-profit Ocean Foundation’s Hello Ocean project is a unique and rewarding privilege for The Moorings. By providing state-of-the-art sailing yachts to Hello Ocean, scientists and researchers are better able to conduct scientific research relevant to the project’s ocean conservation initiatives. Pack for a Purpose

We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows travelers like you to make a lasting impact in the community of your travel destination. If you save some extra space in your suitcase and bring supplies for a local charity in need, you'll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families.

Our flagship marina in Tortola has partnered with the Family Support Network (FSN) to aide its efforts in the British Virgin Islands and beyond. FSN works to assist individuals, couples and families affected domestic violence or any form of abuse in intimate partner relationships. By packing any of these needed supplies, and simply dropping them off at The Moorings reception area, you can support

a worthwhile organization and continue your vacation with the knowledge that you have helped others in need. Please visit this page to see what supplies are needed for our project in the BVI.

Thanks to the success of Pack for a Purpose in the BVI, we’ve partnered with our base in St. Lucia to help another local charity, the Caribaid Foundation. This nonprofit organization is made up of members who’ve pledged to dedicate their time and energy towards the happiness and prosperity of young, single mothers. Learn what you can pack to assist the Caribaid Foundation on this page.

Sailors of the Sea

The Moorings is a proud partner of Sailors for the Sea, a leading conservation organization that “engages, educates, inspires and activates the sailing and boating community toward healing the ocean."

The Moorings Interline Regatta, held every October in the British Virgin Islands, pledged its commitment to clean waters and shores by participating in Sailors for the Sea’s Clean Regattas program. By implementing new measures like a Recycling Program and providing oil absorbent marine pads for each boat, The Moorings heightened environmental awareness while preserving the ecosystem more efficiently than ever before. We are proud to have earned both Silver and Gold-Level Clean Regatta Certification from Sailors for the Sea.

In 2014, we took things a step further by not only adhering to Clean Regatta Best Practices, but also raising funds for Sailors for the Sea in the process. Our partners from Lagunitas Brewing Company were on hand to sell their award-winning microbrews and donate the proceeds to this fantastic organization.

We thank you for your support, and look forward to continued growth with our sustainability programs.

Wounded Veteran Retreat Program

The Wounded Veteran Retreat Program provides wounded veterans and their families the opportunity to take part in activity-based retreats in destinations across the globe. The mission of the WVRP is "to take a leading role in education, assessments and treatment of US Veterans and their family members through our retreat facilities and activities and to improve the quality of life of our wounded and injured veterans and their families through empowerment, while providing inspiration to others seeking encouragement in overcoming limitations and embracing life."

The Moorings has partnered with the WVRP to host a group of wounded veterans as they embark on an educational sailing charter through the British Virgin Islands. Lead by program founder and retired Special Forces officer Nelson Corbin, the group will embark on a weeklong voyage, learning the fundamentals of team sailing and experiencing everything the islands have to offer.
