5/19/26 We just completed an 8 day charter on Naughti Dawg with Captain Gilson Melo at Moorings. This is the second time we chartered in the BVI, the first time in 2018 we did a Bareboat and had to rely on finding our own way around the BVI with the help of a Flotilla. While the bareboat was fun, it really was a ton of work and after chartering with a great captain I now know how much extra work and responsibility bareboating is versus with a captain. I also now know all the amazing BVI hotspots that we did not go last time because we did not have a professional Captain on board. For this trip we hired a professional captain and it was truly amazing, every day was awe inspiring. I simply cannot praise Captain Gilson enough, he brings a wealth of knowledge about the BVI resulting in the most awesome BVI charter experience. Having Captain Gilson at the helm and benefiting from all his expert yachting knowledge, his BVI wisdom and insights, and his hands-on approach to each activity ensures every day is a delightful adventure, and that the entire crew experiences everything there is to see and more in the BVI. I whole heartedly recommend Captain Gilson for anyone wishing to experience the BVI, especially if you want to see all the best locations, snorkel the most amazing reefs and caves, go Moking at Anagada, and enjoy the best dishes onboard and at the best restaurants. Lastly, we did do the jump at Willy-Ts and Captain Gilson was right there beside us jumping, he was the one doing a back flip 🙂 Such an amazing trip for our entire family… Brian

Our family of eight had the best possible experience with Andy and Linzi during their last voyage on Sea’s the Day in BVI. They have now moved to a new boat, McLovin life, which should be equally fantastic. Andy’s itinerary for the week covered all of the major islands in BVI, including a full day on Anegada. He handled the boat with phenomenal expertise and paired stories to each day‘s adventure. Every single meal that Linzi prepared was exquisite, including her famous pre-dinner nibbles with boat drinks. The cabins were very clean with daily cabin service and provided comfortable lodging for all eight adults. My whole family agreed that this was the best vacation we have taken to date.

In July 2026 we chartered with Moorings-SunSail in the BVI and it was great. If you are planning to charter there – ask for Max – he is fantastic. We were happy with our boat and Lindsey ( onsite Director) went out of her way to quickly address a small issue with our grill the day of departure within minutes. We highly recommend requesting Captain Max ( we called him Magic Max) as your Captain. he is an exceptional sailor – knowledgeable, calm, attentive and focused on delivering the experience his guests are seeking. Each day he laid out a clear plan with thoughtful options. he was always prepared and on point. His technical expertise was outstanding – he could fix anything that happened mechanically on the boat as he had worked 2 years in a shipyard – he could troubleshoot and fix issues himself without having to reply upon headquarters. Max always knew where to take us – be it a quiet secluded area with a beach all to our own or a fun lively location for happy hour and dinner. Max also helped out son reconnect with his latent sailing skills. He was patient, encouraging and enthusiastic to instruct – and that really made the trip extra-special for our family. Again – if you are looking for the BEST captain – ask for Max – he truly made our trip exceptional.

Responsiveness of staff and service. Anytime there was an issue, we received quick help.
