The Moorings Sponsors Caribbean Regatta Series

Keeping the racing alive: The Moorings sponsors Caribbean racing events.

The 2024 Caribbean Regatta circuit has come to a close, with regattas from the British Virgin Islands to St. Maarten and Antigua successfully hosting a wide range of events and welcoming sailors from all over the world to this enchanting region.

Whether sailors bring their own multi-million dollar carbon fiber yachts to race, or charter a yacht to race in the Bareboat class, one thing is certain – there is no shortage of great weather, great racing, and legendary fun to be had at a Caribbean Regatta.

For decades, The Moorings has sponsored many of these key racing events, from the BVI Spring Regatta, St. Thomas International Regatta, Heineken Regatta, the Caribbean Multihull Challenge, Antigua Sailing Week and even the St. Barth Bucket. We are proud to have close relationships with these regatta organizers and continue to support the organization of these events, which serve to showcase the beauty of the Caribbean destinations we hold near and dear to our hearts.

“The sponsorship of The Moorings and Sunsail has been integral in the running and organizing of the BVI Spring Regatta for over a decade”, says Judy Petz, former director of the BVISR. “After organizing the Spring Regatta for the past 20 years, I couldn’t imagine how we would create the success of the event without the support of The Moorings. The use of The Moorings boats for accommodations and to act as the signal boat is incredibly helpful to house the organizing committee, and the yachts themselves are ideal platforms to monitor the start and finish of each race.”

David Brennan, Race officer for the St. Thomas International Regatta, agrees: “Producing a world class sailing regatta is a big job, and there are a lot of moving parts. Having a proper signal boat for these events shows the competitors that the organizers have thought through all the necessary requirements of having a successful regatta. The Moorings have been a integral part of our planning for more than 20 years. The Moorings 464 Power cats we use for our signal boats are the perfect platform for race management. We are forever grateful for The Moorings continued sponsorship of our events.”

“The Caribbean Multihull Challenge is a young event”, says Stephen Burzon, Regatta Organizer of the CMC. “The use of a Moorings or Sunsail catamaran for the event is critical to our growth, and brings a sense of ‘gravitas’ to the Caribbean Multihull Challenge which we hope will one day be seen on the same plane as the Caribbean 600, Heineken or BVI Spring Regattas. We are forever in your debt. Thank you!” Although the 2024 season has come to a close, we invite sailors from all walks of life to consider joining us in the sunny Caribbean at one of these stellar events in 2025. Whether as a racer or a spectator, one thing is certain – a world-class event and world-class fun awaits.
