Mooring fees in the BVI typically cost around $30-$55, if you use a mooring ball, which is the most popular way to moor up in the BVI.

Using the BoatyBall booking system, it costs around $55 to reserve mooring balls in advance at key locations, such as Soper’s Hole, Saba Rock, and Diamond Cay, or you can find first-come, first-served mooring balls on BoatyBall or through local operators, marinas and community groups for around $30-$40.

Additional costs you will need to consider when planning a BVI charter include: Flights (around $500-$1,300 pp for a round-trip), taxi transfers (around $18 pp in a shared taxi), taxes and customs fees (e.g. $10 Environmental Levy, $6 Cruising Tax and $20 Departure Tax pp), fuel*, mooring fees (around $30-$55 per use), provisioning (around $50-$75 pp per day), Yacht Damage Waiver ($80-$170 per day), optional charter extras, and gratuity.

For a skippered yacht charter in the BVI, gratuity is expected and is typically given to the skipper at the end of the charter. The amount is entirely at your discretion.

For a crewed yacht charter in the BVI, if you're happy with the outstanding quality of service during your all inclusive sailing vacation, a gratuity of 15-20% of the overall charter price is suggested.
