Exotics
Tahiti yacht charters can look very different depending on how you want to travel, which is why understanding the costs upfront makes planning much easier.
From initial charter prices and what impacts them, to the additional costs and daily living expenses that come afterwards, this blog will break down how much you need to set aside for a Tahiti sailing vacation, so you can build a trip that works better for your budget and sailing style.
As of 2026/2027, a private yacht charter in Tahiti can cost anywhere from $4,199 to $43,332, based on a 7-day charter for 2 people. Bareboat charters typically start from $4,199, and crewed charters from $37,999, but can depend on several factors, including which base you choose, yacht type, charter type, party size, duration, and additional expenses such as flights, mooring fees, fuel, and provisioning.
Costs for a bareboat charter in Tahiti range between $4,199 in the low season and $20,249 in the high season, based on a 7-day charter for two people.
Bareboat charters are extremely flexible, and you can tailor them to your exact preferences, whether that be hiring a skipper for part of your vacation or choosing a
catamaran or monohull. The choices you make will impact the overall cost of your Tahiti sailing charter, allowing you to have a fully bespoke experience.

If you choose a bareboat charter with The Moorings, you have the option to add a skipper, who can help with navigation and local routing, giving you a more relaxed experience onboard. In Tahiti, a skipper costs $250 a night.
Please note that skipper provisioning will not be included in your charter price, so will need to be factored into your budget.

Costs for a crewed charter in Tahiti range between $37,999 in the low season and $43,332 in the high season, based on a 7-day charter for two.

Tahiti’s high season falls from May to October, during the dry season; while the costs are typically higher during this time, it’s also when the weather is balmiest, the water is clearest, and the sailing events are in full swing. Sailing off-peak may offer lower costs, however, it also brings more unpredictable weather and rainfall, which can impact your charter experience.

Additional Tahiti yacht charter costs you need to factor in
As you prepare for your Tahiti sailing vacation, there are several living and operational costs you’ll need to factor into your budget. As a general rule, you should aim to allocate between $50-75 per person per day for provisioning, which will ensure everyone has plenty of meals, snacks, and drinks.
However, if you’re foodies who want to spend your vacation feasting on traditional Polynesian dishes, plenty of fresh seafood, tropical fruit, and rum punches, then you may choose to allocate a little more each day.
Please note that if you add a skipper to your charter, you must pre-pay on the booking for the skipper’s provisioning.
When you charter a sailing yacht in Tahiti with The Moorings, we start you off on your trip with a full tank of fuel, and you’re not required to refuel before coming back to base.
A gratuity is expected and is typically given to the skipper or crew at the end of the charter. The amount is entirely at your discretion.
For crewed charters, if you’re happy with the outstanding quality of service during your all-inclusive sailing vacation, a gratuity of 15-20% of the overall charter price is suggested.
