Michael Nelson was our skipper and we are THANKFUL for all his care, knowledge, flexibility, friendliness and a perfect match for our sailing trip from Grenada to Bequia and back. With his guidance, exceptional experience and local perspective, we were able to see and do all that we had planned and it was all beautiful!! Also, Queenisha had everything ready for us, answered all our questions and shared tips for around the marina. Thanks again for an amazing trip and vacation.

The chartering process and all of the staff we worked with were very knowledgeable and responsive.

Initial planning and customer service (Amanda Kurland was beyond helpful), quality and quantity of boat selections in Tortola, the Moorings compound in Roadtown, the overall sailing experience, the briefing and ease of getting the charter started, and (most of the charter experience) the support and communication from the Moorings in Roadtown.

The boat was fitted out well and everything worked properly. BVI is a great location for a charter. The “friendly skipper” option was very helpful

Kevin(Jamba) was our Captain. HE made our trip. The attention to detail taking care of every member of my family, 10 of us ranging in age 2 -76, was unmatched. I am sincere in saying HE took our trip from what would have been a very nice vacation to the most fabulous trip we have ever taken.
It will be hard to top this one and will definitely request our new family member, Jamba, to Captain for us again.

Boats are well maintained and the staff is wonderful

Because EVERYTHING was better than expected!! The crew! The skippers! The staff on the base! Every single boat was in great shape! I had a blast for my 40th birthday with 4 boats with 4 couples on each both!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THAAAAANK YOU!!!

The process has been super easy and the boats are always new and clean.

We have been on numerous Moorings charters over the years. We probably enjoyed this one the most due to our Captain, Paul Gaetan. His skill set and knowledge of the area was exceptional (I am a sailor myself), and most importantly, Paul is a lovely person and always makes sure his guests are happy.

We had such a wonderful and stress free time!

Just returned from BVI on a 5-day charter with The Moorings on a 45′ Sailing Catamaran. We stayed at The Moorings the night before our charter and enjoyed the pool, food, and bar during our stay. There is also a food market there to get any additional provisions you may have forgotten. We chose to have a Skipper on our charter and what a great decision that was. Captain RICO was EXCELLENT and HIGHLY recommended him. With some challenging weather during our time, he made sure we were on a safe mooring ball in a protective cove while also making sure we were taking advantage of what each island had to offer, snorkeling, dinner reservations, beach, swimming, Willy T’s, and trolling for fish. Caught tuna and barracuda. The water was clear and beautiful. This time of year temperatures were perfect, ranged between 75-85 every day. The food was fabulous every night. thanks again to Rico for securing our reservations at every stop. BEYC, SABA, Foxy’s (best ribs I’ve ever had) were great! We chose to get provisions for breakfast/lunch and eat out every night to experience the local cuisine. We chose to fly into St. Thomas and take a water taxi over to Tortola so we could spend a few days there at the end of our trip. Water taxi was very efficient BUT very expense. It short cuts the ferry/customs lines and gets you through customs quickly, literally 10 mins, don’t even have to leave the boat (30+’ powerboat). We also arranged for private taxi to take us from airport to Red Hook. Captain Shorty was our water taxi captain. Rough ride with waves and at night but got us to port for customs before closing and was a pleasure to be with. Another great Captain! Overall feel it’s worth the extra cash. Just be sure you fully understand all the associated costs. Slight disagreement with the company on “fee” for flight delay, so not promoting them until this is settled. As you’ve probably read, pack light. We used the vacuum bags while packing. I was skeptical but was a great decision. Able to package cloths for last days separate and not open. Overall, a GREAT trip and would definitely return. Again, our Skipper RICO was AWESOME!

I have been sailing with the Moorings for over 25 years. It’s always a very pleasurable experience. Sometimes it’s a little difficult getting off the dock on the first day, but that’s to be expected. And I always plan to expect at least one maintenance problem with the boat during our week in the British Virgin Islands, but the maintenance crew is excellent and it’s usually repaired within two or three hours.

Everything was top notch. Check-in was efficient but most of all Captain Libert was fantastic. We could not ask for better service and a more competent Captain. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable and most importantly extremely friendly. We were a group of five couples on a 50 foot sailing catamaran. Captain Libert provided various options each day for our itinerary based on weather, mooring and diving locations etc. We had tons of fun and plenty of laughs throughout the week. The weather was perfect and the locations found by Captain Libert were spectacular.

We were aboard a 45′ bareboat sailing catamaran which the Moorings substituted for the 52′ monohull we had reserved. The eight-day trip was great, although the vessel had electrical flaws including low-voltage alarms at 3 am three times. Response from service was good, requiring replacement of three batteries. We have been repeat customers for thirty years, so we know the process. Nadji at the base was great — I would hire her. Moorings does a good job; we will be charter with them again. The business is one of countless details to provide the service. HBS could do an interesting study of the systems necessary and personnel management challenges. I am happy to see that the staff is 95% BVI citizens.

An elevated Moorings experience—Integrity driven Captain Gilson handled every detail with calm expertise and care.

My group just got back from six nights sailing around the British Virgin Islands on a Moorings 5000 catamaran, and I have to say, it was one of the best trips we’ve taken. The boat itself was great. It had plenty of room and was just a really comfortable way to travel between islands or hang out on deck.

What really made the trip special, though, was our captain, Gilson Melo. Gilson was fantastic. From the moment we met him, it was clear he knew exactly what he was doing. He made everyone feel at ease on the water, and his knowledge of the BVIs was impressive. He took us to some incredible snorkeling spots and quiet anchorages we probably would have missed on our own, and he had great recommendations for places to eat ashore. He was professional when he needed to be, but also really easygoing and good company.

All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Moorings 5000 for a charter, and I’d especially recommend asking for Gilson as your captain if you can. He truly added a lot to the experience and we would request him again on future trips.

We have had the best experience onboard a Moorings Catamaran with our Captain Laura! We hadn’t had a captain before but this time wanted that stress free sailing week and Laura was fantastic with our family and knowledgeable about the islands and the best spots to see Turtles and eat and snorkel! Our only disappointment is that we can’t take Lura home with us but we will definitely do this sail again and ask for Laura! (Bello) too.

The Moorings did a great job! We chartered a 50′ sailing catamaran for three couples. The boat was less than a year old, well maintained and worked very well during our trip. It was so nice to have a watermaker and not have to worrying about limiting water use or buying water. The Moorings staff was excellent and very responsive throughout the process, including the booking process, boat check out and when we returned the boat.

We bareboat charter all over the World, almost exclusively with Moorings/Sunsail, because as a whole they provide the best service and have the newest, best maintained boats. Out of all the bases we have been to I have to say that The Moorings in Abaco, Bahamas, was one of the most exceptional and friendliest run. Travis and his team go out of their way. We were truly blown away by the level of care this local team has for their charterers and their home. Shout out to Captain Ron, if you don’t bareboat like we do, and have to hire a Captain, ask for him.

Moorings delivers again! Loved our trip to the BVIs! Our yacht was in great condition! The staff was amazing, helpful and organized! Strongly recommend Moorings for your next charter!

An amazing place with lots of reefs. It was a little tricky when going to anchor but with two lookouts we managed very well.

We booked a 50-foot catamaran with Moorings for a five-night, six-day trip around the British Virgin Islands aboard Seas The Day, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Captain Andy and Chef Linzi were amazing.

Captain Andy really took the time before the trip to understand what our group was looking for during our Zoom call, and it showed. The itinerary was perfectly planned for us and never felt rushed or cookie-cutter.

The food and drinks were fantastic, and the ingredients were always very fresh. Every meal was great, and the attention to detail made it feel like a true all-inclusive, luxury vacation. One of our favorite daily traditions quickly became the sunset nibbles and cocktails — something we all looked forward to every single evening.

This was the first BVI sailing trip for all four couples, and Captain Andy made it easy and fun. He taught us a lot about sailing, shared tons of information about the islands, and helped us feel completely comfortable the entire time. Each day we’d sit down and talk through plans for the next day, giving us options and all the info we needed to choose what we wanted to do — and it always turned out to be the perfect plan.

We can’t recommend Moorings, Captain Andy, and Chef Linzi enough. We’ll absolutely be booking another trip in the future with Captain Andy and Chef Linzi and can’t wait to do it all again.

Romano and Silvia were most excellent hosts! We felt safe with them and they provided wonderful meals and stories. We love to sail and they did too! Very kind. They made us feel most welcome.

This is a top shelf charter business. The experience was awesome and the staff is superb. They cover all your needs seamlessly. I will definitely do this again.

Crew was outstanding. Captain Francesco was great. Nika was absolutely amazing. Cooked 3 meals a day that were delicious and presentation was absolutely beautiful. Would highly recommend asking for them to be your crew.

We recently spent six nights sailing the British Virgin Islands on a Moorings 5000 catamaran, and the experience exceeded our expectations. The boat was perfect for our group of four couples. The layout worked beautifully, and we had no issues at all throughout the trip.

Our captain, Gilson Melo, was truly outstanding and made the experience exceptional. His communication was clear and proactive from start to finish, his itinerary recommendations were spot-on, and his skill and confidence at the helm made us feel completely at ease. Gilson struck the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth, ensuring we had an unforgettable experience. We could not have asked for a better captain.

We would highly recommend both the Moorings 5000 and Captain Gilson Melo and would happily sail with The Moorings again.

We booked the 50’ catamaran Seas the Day with Captain Andy and Chef Linzi for 5 nights starting January 27th-February 1st. From start to finish we felt safe and spoiled! Captain Andy tailored our itinerary to exactly what we wanted to see and do and Chef Linzi made us the best meals and “nibbles”. They were an incredible team who went above and beyond and truly made us feel at home. I would highly recommend booking with them. You won’t regret it!

Capt Richard and wife, first mate, chef Shelly were outstanding! Richard knew his business and maximized each day for us. Shelly prepared amazing meals. We couldn’t ask for more.

Life aboard was fabulous. Flexible. Captain and crew impressive. Romano and Sylvia were a dynamic couple. A fabulous week at sea. Well done.
